AirTAC MGCD Series Double-Rod Cushioned Mini Cylinders

The AirTAC MGCD series is a JIS-standard round-body pneumatic mini cylinder featuring a double-acting, double-rod design. Because the piston rod exits both covers, the effective area is the rod-side area in both directions. This means output force is equal on extension and retraction, which is critical for applications requiring symmetrical pushing and pulling. The through-rod construction also resists rotation and provides a rear rod end for mounting a stop flag or secondary load.

The series spans six bores from 20 to 63 mm. At 0.5 MPa, force output ranges from 132 N on the 20 mm bore up to 1401 N on the 63 mm bore. Unlike fixed bumper pads, the MGCD uses a variable air cushion at both ends. This adjustable cushion decelerates the piston smoothly at stroke ends, allowing higher operating speeds or heavier loads without impact damage. Standard strokes reach 300 mm for 20 and 25 mm bores, and 500 mm for 32 to 63 mm bores.

Construction includes a SUS304 stainless steel barrel and carbon-steel rods with 20 um hard chrome plating. Covers are riveted and rolled, and the piston uses a two-way lubricant-storing seal. The ordering code MGCD{bore}X{stroke}[S][mount][thread] allows configuration of a built-in magnet for CMSG or DMSG sensors, FA or LB mounts, I or Y rod knuckles, and PT, G or NPT threads. The MGCD is not a tie-rod or profile cylinder, and it does not hold position on air loss.
