AirTAC Pneumatics
The AirTAC MTG series is a JIS-standard single-acting pull mini cylinder with a 20-40mm bore range, delivering 85-339N of net pull force for compact spring-return pulling tasks.
inventory_248 models availableThe AirTAC MTG series is a JIS-standard round-body mini air cylinder designed for single-acting pull operations. An internal spring extends the rod at rest, while compressed air retracts it to perform the work stroke. It features a SUS304 stainless steel barrel and a carbon-steel rod with a 20um hard chrome plating.
The series spans four bores (20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm) and provides a net pull force from 85N to 339N at 0.5 MPa. All ports are 1/8 inch. The design uses riveted covers, a two-way lubricant-storing piston seal, and a fixed anti-impact bumper pad to soften stroke ends. It is not a tie-rod or profile cylinder.
Variants include the S option for built-in magnets compatible with CMSG, DMSG, and EMSG sensors. Mounting options cover FA flange, LB foot, CB clevis, SDB pivot, and I or Y rod knuckles. Thread choices are PT, G, or NPT. Standard stroke is capped at 150mm due to spring travel limits.

Ideal for pulling back conveyor clamps or gating arms where compressed air retracts the rod and the internal spring automatically extends it to a safe open rest position during air loss.
Suitable for compact packaging machines needing a one-directional pull to tension or close flaps, utilizing the 20mm or 25mm bore sizes for tight spaces with 85N to 133N force.
Used in light electronics assembly for drawing or positioning delicate parts, where the fixed anti-impact bumper pad prevents end-of-stroke damage and the SUS304 barrel resists corrosion.
Confirm your work stroke is a pull motion and that a spring can hold the rod out at rest. Size the bore to the net pull force at your working pressure using the 0.5 MPa figures (85N for 20mm up to 339N for 40mm) and keep a safety margin. Remember the 0.2 MPa minimum operating pressure and the 150mm standard stroke cap.
Add the S suffix for position sensing, pick the required mounting (FA, LB, CB, SDB, I, Y), and match the thread (PT, G, NPT). If you need a push work stroke, use the single-acting MSG series. For two-way action or longer travel, step up to the double-acting MG series.
Quick checklist
The MTG series includes four bores: 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, and 40mm. The net pull force at 0.5 MPa ranges from 85N for the 20mm bore up to 133N for 25mm, 225N for 32mm, and 339N for the 40mm bore. These forces are already net of the internal spring.
The MTG is single-acting pull type: a spring extends the rod and air retracts it. The MSG is single-acting push type where air extends the rod and spring retracts it. The MG is double-acting for two-way motion or longer strokes up to and beyond the 150mm spring limit of the MTG.
Yes, you must order the model with the S suffix (for example, MTG25X50S) to get the built-in magnet. Models without the S suffix cannot take a sensor. The S variants are compatible with AirTAC CMSG, DMSG, and EMSG series sensors.
No. On air loss, the internal spring pushes the rod back out to its extended rest position. The fixed anti-impact bumper pad only softens the stroke end; it is not a lock or brake. A mechanical lock or pilot check valve is required for load holding.
