The AirTAC MSG series is a single-acting, push-type pneumatic mini cylinder. Compressed air extends the piston rod to perform work, and an internal return spring retracts it when air is released. This design requires only one air line and consumes air solely on the work stroke, simplifying circuits for one-directional tasks like clamping, ejecting, lifting, and pressing.
The series spans four bores - 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, and 40mm - delivering a net push force of 110N to 440N at 0.5 MPa. Because the return spring occupies internal space, the standard stroke length is capped at 150mm. All bores use 1/8 inch ports. The construction features a SUS304 stainless steel barrel and a carbon-steel rod with 20um hard chrome plating, ensuring durability in tight spaces.
A key design feature is the two-way lubricant-storing piston seal combined with a fixed anti-impact bumper pad that softens the stroke end. The covers are riveted and rolled rather than tie-rod or profile. For position sensing, add the S option (e.g. MSG25X50S) to get a built-in magnet compatible with CMSG, DMSG, or EMSG sensors. Models without S cannot accept a sensor.

How to Choose the Right Model
Confirm your motion is strictly one-way and a spring return is acceptable, then size the bore to the net push force at your working pressure. The 20mm bore gives 110N, 25mm gives 172N, 32mm gives 281N, and 40mm gives 440N at 0.5 MPa. Keep a safety margin, remember the 0.2 MPa minimum operating pressure (below it the spring wins), and respect the 150mm standard stroke cap. Add S for sensing, pick a mount (FA, LB, CB, SDB, or I/Y knuckles), and match the thread (PT, G, or NPT).
Step out of the MSG series if you need a longer or two-directional stroke; use the double-acting MG series instead. If your work stroke requires pulling rather than pushing, select the single-acting MTG series. Drive the MSG with an AirTAC 3V (3/2) valve for single-acting control. Confirm from datasheet for exact dimensions and weights.
