About the Airtac 3V3 Solenoid Valve 3V308NCA
The 3V308NCA is AirTAC's largest 3-port body in the 3V range: a 1/4in PT direct-acting, spring-return coaxial poppet valve that either feeds or vents a single line. In this normally closed version the outlet stays shut until the AC220V coil is energised, so the circuit sits safely closed through a power loss.
Flow is the headline: a Cv of 0.62, roughly six times the 0.1 of a base-mounted 3V2M and about three times a 3V208, thanks to the coaxial shut-off construction. Coil draw on AC220V is 10 VA, the highest AC figure in the 3V family, so size the transformer for banks of valves that switch together.

What a 3/2 Valve Does
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
Where the Airtac 3V3 Solenoid Valve 3V308NCA Is Used

Switches the AC220V feed to a big single-acting swing clamp; the Cv 0.62 orifice fills the cylinder volume fast, and the NC state keeps the clamp circuit shut when power drops.
High-volume blow-off on a packaging line
Feeds a wide blow nozzle for clearing film and crumbs between cycles. Because it is normally closed, the nozzle stays dead until the coil is energised.
Pilot stage for a larger process valve
Vents the pilot line of a big diaphragm or angle-seat valve on de-energisation, giving a defined fail position without extra logic components.
Is the Airtac 3V3 Solenoid Valve 3V308NCA the Right Part?
3V3 tops the 3-port range, so look down one step when flow is not the constraint: 3V2 (Cv 0.18-0.19, also vacuum-rated) for lighter duties, 3V2M (Cv 0.1) when a compact multi-station manifold beats flow, or 3V1 (3.0 W on DC24V) for the smallest, lowest-power jobs. Confirm five points before ordering: 1/4in port with PT thread as standard (G and NPT are catalogue options to order), NC initial state, AC220V coil, DIN plug entry, and whether the duty involves vacuum. Need to drive a double-acting cylinder? That requires the 5-port AirTAC 4V series, not this 3/2 valve.
