About the AirTAC TCMJ20

The AirTAC TCMJ20 is a double-acting three-rod guided cylinder (bronze-bushing guides, adjustable stroke) with a 20 mm bore. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa, 219.9 N push and 164.9 N pull. Force depends on bore and pressure only, so every stroke on this page gives the same output.

Two guide rods run in bronze sleeve bearings (M), suited to side loads and impact; the body mounts from the top, rear or underside. All TCMJ20 versions use 1/8" air ports and run on filtered air at 0.15 to 1.0 MPa (proof 1.5 MPa), from -20 to +70 °C, at 30 to 500 mm/s. This page lists 19 stock order codes with strokes from 20 to 250 mm; the catalog maximum stroke is 250 mm.

Push = pressure × bore area; pull subtracts the Ø10 mm rod area. Usable force is lower because of friction and back-pressure.

Where the TCMJ20 Is Used

Pick-and-place and stoppers

Guide rods keep tooling square while the cylinder delivers about 157.1 N at 0.5 MPa.

Pushers with side load

The guide rods take side load that would wear a plain cylinder rod.

Lifting and transfer units

Mounts from the top, back or underside to fit compact stations.

Choosing the Right TCMJ20 Configuration

Start with the stroke. Pick the exact travel your machine needs; a longer stroke adds length and air consumption without adding force. If your length is not listed, request a quote and we will confirm whether it can be built.

Then choose the stroke adjustment: the number after the stroke is the adjustable stroke range of the J type (10 mm, 20 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, 100 mm on this page).

Finally pick the version: every code carries a magnet for position sensors.
