About the Airtac 3V3 Solenoid Valve 3V308NCC
3V308NCC is the largest-body 3/2-way valve in AirTAC's 3V family: a 1/4in PT port, normally closed, with an AC110V coil on a DIN plug. Direct-acting with a coaxial poppet and spring return, it either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, driving single-acting cylinders, air blow, clamps, vacuum switching or a larger pilot valve. Being NC, the outlet stays closed until the coil is energised.
Flow is where this body earns its keep: Cv 0.62, about six times the base-mounted 3V2M and more than three times the 3V208, so stepping up from a 3V2 is a genuine jump in capacity rather than a marginal one. It also handles negative pressure, rated -102.2 kPa to 0.1 MPa for vacuum service. A manual override is fitted to ease installation and commissioning.

What a 3/2 Valve Does
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.

Is the Airtac 3V3 Solenoid Valve 3V308NCC the Right Part?
3V3 is the biggest 3-port body AirTAC makes, so sizing usually means stepping down. Move to 3V2 (1/8in or 1/4in, Cv 0.18-0.19, also vacuum-rated) when Cv 0.62 exceeds what the line needs, to 3V2M (Cv 0.1) when a dense multi-station manifold matters more than flow, or to 3V1 for the smallest low-power duties (3.0 W on DC24V). Match five points: port and thread (PT1/4 is the standard thread on this family, G and NPT are catalogue options to order), initial state (this code is NC), coil voltage (AC110V here), electrical entry (DIN plug), and whether the duty involves vacuum. A double-acting cylinder needs a 5-port AirTAC 4V valve, not this one.
