About the Airtac 3V3 Solenoid Valve 3V308NCF
The 3V308NCF is a normally closed 3/2 solenoid valve on AirTAC's largest three-port body, with PT-threaded 1/4 inch ports and a DIN plug connection. Its AC24V coil draws 10 VA. De-energised, the spring return blocks the supply and dumps the outlet to exhaust, so downstream holds no air until the coil is powered - the safe default for clamping and blow circuits.
Inside, a direct-acting coaxial shut-off poppet does the switching, giving good sealing and high flow: Cv 0.62, the best figure in the whole 3V range and roughly six times a base-mounted 3V2M. The body is also rated for vacuum down to -102.2 kPa.

What a 3/2 Valve Does
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.

Fixture clamp cylinder
A spring-return clamp on a machining fixture grips only while the valve feeds it; drop the AC24V coil and the outlet dumps to exhaust, releasing the part.
Bottle-cap blow-off
Before labelling, a short coil pulse opens the full Cv 0.62 cross-section to blast rinse water off bottle caps on a filling line.
Glass-sheet vacuum cup

3V3 is the largest and highest-flow 3-port body AirTAC makes, so every alternative is a step down. Choose 3V2 (1/8 or 1/4 inch, Cv 0.18-0.19, also vacuum rated) when Cv 0.62 is more than the duty needs, 3V2M (Cv 0.1) when a dense multi-station manifold matters more than flow, or 3V1 for the smallest low-power jobs at 3.0 W on DC24V. Settle five points before ordering: port and thread (PT1/4 is the standard on this family; G and NPT are catalogue options), normally closed or open, coil voltage, electrical entry - a DIN plug on this code - and any vacuum involvement. Double-acting cylinders need five ports; point those jobs at the AirTAC 4V series.
