About the Airtac 3V3 Solenoid Valve 3V308NOB
Where a circuit has to switch vacuum as well as pressure, the 3V308NOB fits: this normally open 3/2 valve is rated from -102.2 kPa to 0.1 MPa, so it can hold vacuum on the outlet line until the DC24V coil is energised, then vent it. Note that the smaller 3V1 and 3V2M bodies are not vacuum rated - 3V3 is.
The DC24V coil takes just 6.5 W, less than the 7.0 W of a 3V2, which helps where panel power is limited. Direct acting with spring return and a coaxial poppet, it carries a Cv of 0.62 - the highest in the 3V series - on a 1/4in PT port with DIN plug entry.

What a 3/2 Valve Does
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.

Is the Airtac 3V3 Solenoid Valve 3V308NOB the Right Part?
3V3 sits at the top of AirTAC's 3-port flow ladder, so the only sizing direction is down: choose 3V2 (Cv 0.18-0.19, also vacuum rated) when Cv 0.62 is generous for the line, 3V2M (Cv 0.1) where a compact multi-station manifold matters more than flow, or 3V1 (3.0 W on DC24V) for the least demanding duties. Confirm five points on the order: PT1/4 thread (G and NPT are order options, not stock items), normally open state, DC24V coil, DIN plug entry, and any vacuum duty. For double-acting actuators, the AirTAC 4V series is the correct family.
