This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED80X80B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED80X80B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD80X80B is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 80mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED80X80B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with a through piston rod, the ACPD80X80B delivers 2356.2 N in each direction at 0.5 MPa because both strokes work on the rod-side area - there is a 20 mm rod leaving every cover. The 80 mm bore reaches 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa, and the male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to external tooling on either end. Its hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 short build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into wide gantry carriages and heavy press fixtures where a full-length body will not fit.
The through rod resists rotation and side load and gives a symmetric mount, so the rear rod can carry a tool plate or sensor flag while the front rod does the work. Fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, speed runs 30-500 mm/s, and air supply is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered to 40 um. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACED80X80 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. Without the optional -S magnet code, no CMSE or DMSE switch can be fitted.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED80X80B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 2356 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 3299 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 481 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 80 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 2356.2 N symmetric output at 0.5 MPa lets one through rod clamp a steel bracket from both covers on a machining line, replacing two single-rod cylinders.
Equal force in both directions moves a 100 kg welding jig carriage on an 80 mm stroke, with the rear rod carrying a position flag plate.
A 1/4" port feeds the 80 mm bore at 30-500 mm/s to eject crates sideways on a packaging conveyor, guided by the rotation-resistant double rod.
At 80 mm bore you get 2356.2 N both ways at 0.5 MPa; plan on roughly 1414 N of usable work, which lifts about 120 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. If your load is lighter, the 63 mm bore offers 1458.1 N at the same pressure; if you need more, the 100 mm bore delivers 3681.6 N. Stroke 80 mm is well inside the 300 mm standard limit for this bore, so no made-to-order build is required. A plain double-rod cylinder will not hold position when air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check for a suspended load. This unit is discontinued; order the ACED80X80 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting pattern first.
Replacement checklist
Because it is a double-rod cylinder, force is identical pushing and pulling: 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa, both measured on the rod-side area with a 20 mm rod at each end. At the full 1.0 MPa rating the peak is 480.5 kgf. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the ISO 21287 compact format, cutting about 50% of the mounting length compared with an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and FA/FB flange or LB foot brackets bolt to the standard face. The ACPD80X80B is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACED80X80, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering. Position sensing needs the optional -S magnet code for CMSE or DMSE switches; this unit has no magnet fitted.
