This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED80X80SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED80X80SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD80X80SB is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 80mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED80X80SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD80X80SB pushes and pulls with identical force because each stroke works on the rod-side area: 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa in either direction. The 80 mm bore drives a 20 mm rod, and the male rod thread (B code) plus the fitted -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches are built into this ordering code. Air supply runs 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at speeds of 30-500 mm/s.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the ISO 21287 short format, cutting roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into wide gantry carriages and press fixtures where a full-length body cannot. A fixed TPU bumper sits at each end. In practice, plan on about 144 kg of usable vertical work (roughly 0.6 of the 0.5 MPa force), and with a 2:1 margin this cylinder lifts about 120 kg vertically. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACED80X80, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED80X80SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 2356 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 3299 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 481 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 80 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 2356.2 N symmetric output at 0.5 MPa suits a stamping or marking press on an aluminium extrusion line, where the through-rod keeps the tool plate square under side load.
With about 120 kg of vertical-lift equivalent and a 1/4" port, the 80 mm bore side-shifts loaded pallets between conveyor lanes in a warehouse transfer station.
The fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches for end-of-stroke confirmation on a robotic gantry clamp, inside a body about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
At 80 mm bore this sits near the top of the compact range: 2356.2 N both ways at 0.5 MPa, versus 1458.1 N for a 63 mm bore and 3681.6 N for a 100 mm bore. If your fixture needs a held position when air is lost, add a rod lock or pilot check valve, because a plain double-rod piston will drift. The through-rod resists rotation and side load and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag; FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Since ACPD is discontinued, order ACED80X80 as the current replacement in the same force class.
Replacement checklist
Because a rod exits both covers, force is equal in both directions: 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a maximum of 480.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure is 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed is 30-500 mm/s, and the 1/4" port matches the 80 mm bore. A usable planning figure is about 144 kg of vertical work at 0.5 MPa.
Yes. The ACPD family is no longer in production; the current-production successor is ACED80X80, an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class. The short hard-anodized aluminium body, fixed TPU bumpers and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting carry over, but confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
