The AirTAC Airtac B03-3V Explosion-proof Solenoid Valve B03-3V1M5B is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve. A 3/2 valve either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, so it suits single-acting cylinders, air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty. We stock this code and confirm its published figures from the datasheet on request.
The 3V1M5B is the low-voltage, plug-in member of the 3V1 family: a direct-acting 3/2 solenoid on M5 ports whose DC24V coil draws only 3.0 W, among the lowest power draws in the range. It feeds or vents a single line, which covers single-acting cylinders, air blow, clamps and pilot signals.
Spring return resets the spool whenever 24 V is removed, and the DIN plug connection lets an electrician unplug the coil without touching the wiring. Protection is IP65 (DIN 40050), and the initial state is fixed at one setting - verify it on the datasheet before relying on it in a safety path.

A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
A CNC's 24 V PLC output drives the 3.0 W coil to vent a spring-return probe clamp, keeping the machine's DC power budget effectively untouched.
Mobile service vehicles run a small work clamp from the truck's 24 V system, with the DIN plug allowing a quick coil swap at the roadside without rewiring.
A digital press clears toner dust from a guide roller with short DC24V air pulses through an M5 nozzle, venting the line to exhaust between shots.
With a 3.0 W DC24V coil, this body suits battery-backed supplies and 24 V PLC outputs where every watt counts; it is also the smallest, lowest-power body in AirTAC's 3V line-up. Because no Cv is published for 3V1, confirm flow-critical sizing with us; step up to 3V2 (1/8 and 1/4 ports, NC or NO selectable, Cv 0.18-0.19, vacuum rated) or 3V3 (1/4 port, Cv 0.62) for more flow, and to 3V2M when manifold density beats flow. Double-acting cylinders need the 5-port 4V series.
Check five points before ordering: port (M5 here; 1/8 also offered), thread on 1/8 variants (PT is the standard specification; G or NPT are options to order - M5 carries no thread code), coil voltage, electrical entry (DIN plug here, flying lead as the alternative), and individual valve versus manifold station count (this code is an individual valve).

Pressure 0-0.8 MPa (0-114 psi); temperature -20 to 70 C; DC24V coil 3.0 W (other 3V1 coils: DC12V 2.5 W, AC24V 5.0 VA, AC110V 4.5 VA, AC220V 4.5 VA); protection IP65 (DIN 40050); air filtered to 40 um or finer; direct-acting 3/2 with spring return and manual override. Cv and effective area are not published for the 3V1 body, so confirm flow duties with us.
Choose this version when the valve hangs off a 24 V PLC output or a battery-backed supply: at 3.0 W the coil is easy on the supply and safe to switch from a small relay, and the DIN plug lets the coil be unplugged for testing. If your panel is AC, the A, C and E codes cover AC220V, AC110V and AC24V instead.
