Two-wire reed wiring behaves like a mechanical limit switch: it sits in series with the load, which keeps the panel work simple but leaves a small leakage current through the circuit. The bare lead can be trimmed exactly to route length, avoiding coiled surplus cable in the trough. The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

The 020 code is the economical route: cut the lead to length and terminate it yourself at the terminal rail or in a small junction box. If your circuit is AC or mixed-voltage, reed is the natural pick since the contact spans 5-240 V AC/DC with no polarity; DC-only panels with PLC inputs may prefer a DMS 3-wire NPN or PNP model instead. Longer leads (030/050/100) and M8/M12 connectors exist in the same family. Any choice still needs a magnet-equipped cylinder and a profile that seats in its groove.
