The AirTAC Airtac CMSH Reed Sensor CMSH-030 is a genuine CMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a 2-wire output on 5-240 V AC/DC with a 3 m flying lead. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
The CMSH-030 is a reed-type magnetic position switch from AirTAC. Inside sits a sealed mechanical reed contact, not solid-state electronics, so it closes on either AC or DC anywhere from 5-240 V and needs no polarity. It seats in the sensor groove of an AirTAC cylinder fitted with the piston magnet option and signals position through its 2-wire circuit. This version carries a 3 m flying lead; the general-type body is sealed to IP64.
Because the contact is mechanical, it behaves like a classic limit switch: wire it in series with the load, expect a finite contact life under very heavy cycling, and mind inrush loads on the line. The H profile letter sets the groove fit for the cylinder body, so check it against your series before ordering - exact seating is what makes or breaks detection.

A reed contact switches a wide window, 5-240 V AC or DC, which is why it suits AC circuits and relay logic. IP64. The CMS range has no RW / IP68 option - that belongs to DMS and EMS. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

| H | Profile letter: the mounting / groove type that fits a particular cylinder body. This family offers E, G, H, J. It is a fit code, not a performance grade. |
| 030 | 3 m flying lead. 020 / 030 / 050 / 100 are 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 m flying leads; M08 and M12 are M8 / M12 connector versions. |
| (blank) | Standard version. On a CMS the suffix -H is the high-temperature version — do not confuse it with the H profile letter. |
We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

| Consider DMS | the solid-state range with NPN / PNP 3-wire outputs (DC only) |
| Consider EMS | the mini 2-wire solid-state switch (DC only) |

A packaging machine's clamp cylinder signals full close to a 24 V DC relay rung; the 2-wire reed contact drops straight into the series path.
On a bench fixture, an AirTAC clamp cylinder with the magnet option proves the part is gripped before the press cycle may start.
Three switches seated at home, mid and end positions on one slide cylinder each report over their own 3 m leads back to the terminal strip.
Choose CMSH when your control circuit wants a simple series contact on AC or DC; pick a DMS or EMS electronic switch instead if cycles are fast and you want solid-state switching with no bounce. This 3 m flying lead suits fixed mounts where the cable never moves; for plug-in service swaps, ask about an M8 or M12 connector build. The -H build handles hot zones, while this general type suits ordinary ambient. Either way, the H profile must match your cylinder's groove and the piston must carry the built-in magnet.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
It is a reed position switch with a 2-wire mechanical contact. Supply range is 5-240 V AC or DC, protection is IP64, and it arrives with a 3 m flying lead. There is no polarity to observe and no output transistor, since the element is a sealed reed.
Pick the reed CMSH when your circuit wants a simple series contact on AC or DC and you value galvanic isolation. Choose an electronic DMS or EMS when switching is very frequent and you need solid-state operation without contact bounce. Remember the profile letter must seat in your cylinder's groove and the piston needs the built-in magnet.
