The AirTAC Airtac CMSH Reed Sensor CMSH-100 is a genuine CMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a 2-wire output on 5-240 V AC/DC with a 10 m flying lead. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
The CMSH-100 is an AirTAC CMS-series magnetic reed switch. It reads the piston magnet of an AirTAC cylinder ordered with the built-in magnet option and closes its 2-wire contact when the piston reaches the mounting point. The 100 wiring code gives a 10 m flying lead, so the cable can run the whole distance back to a distant control panel without joints or extensions. Supply range is 5-240 V AC/DC and the standard housing carries IP64 protection.
As a reed type, this switch has a genuine mechanical contact: no polarity to observe, happy on AC or DC, and it wires in series just like a conventional limit switch. The H in the model is a profile fit code that must match your cylinder's sensor groove - check the seating against your cylinder before you order.

A reed contact switches a wide window, 5-240 V AC or DC, which is why it suits AC circuits and relay logic. IP64. The CMS range has no RW / IP68 option - that belongs to DMS and EMS. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

| H | Profile letter: the mounting / groove type that fits a particular cylinder body. This family offers E, G, H, J. It is a fit code, not a performance grade. |
| 100 | 10 m flying lead. 020 / 030 / 050 / 100 are 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 m flying leads; M08 and M12 are M8 / M12 connector versions. |
| (blank) | Standard version. On a CMS the suffix -H is the high-temperature version — do not confuse it with the H profile letter. |
We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

| Consider DMS | the solid-state range with NPN / PNP 3-wire outputs (DC only) |
| Consider EMS | the mini 2-wire solid-state switch (DC only) |
| Mounting parts | F-MQ (round body), F-ACT (tie-rod) |
On a 30 m pallet conveyor, end-of-stroke confirmation from the stop cylinders travels 10 m on the built-in lead straight to the main panel, with no joints to fail.
Clamp cylinders buried inside a stamping press report position to a cabinet mounted outside the safety fence; the long lead clears the guarded area in one piece.
Gate-lift cylinders on a clarifier walkway signal open and closed positions to a control kiosk across the platform.
Pick the CMSH-100 when the run between cylinder and panel is long: the 10 m lead removes the need for splices on wide machines or remote cabinets. Reed vs electronic is a circuit decision - a reed contact suits AC and mixed AC/DC supplies and behaves like a plain limit switch, while DMS/EMS electronic types are DC-only solid-state units. Your cylinder must have the magnet option, and the H profile must seat correctly in its groove; send the cylinder series and we will verify the fit.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
It is a magnetic reed (CMS) switch with a 2-wire contact, supplied from 5-240 V AC/DC, protected to IP64, and fitted with a 10 m flying lead. It only signals when mounted on an AirTAC cylinder that carries the built-in magnet option.
No. The CMSH-100 uses a mechanical reed contact that tolerates AC or DC and needs no polarity, but a reed is a mechanical part with a finite contact life and can bounce. AirTAC's DMS and EMS switches are solid-state electronic types, DC only, with no bounce. Choose by your supply and duty cycle.
