Airtac CS1A Reed Sensor CS1A020

The AirTAC Airtac CS1A Reed Sensor CS1A020 is a genuine CS1 reed (mechanical-contact) magnetic switch, normally open, that senses the piston magnet in a pneumatic cylinder. As a dry 2-wire contact it switches AC or DC across 5-240 V, supplied with a 2 m cable. The A type fits SC (all bores). It carries a red led and is rated IP67.

About the Airtac CS1A Reed Sensor CS1A020

The AirTAC CS1A020 is a reed (mechanical-contact) magnetic switch, normally open, that senses the piston magnet in an SC cylinder. As a dry 2-wire contact it switches AC or DC anywhere from 5 to 240 V, so one part drops into a legacy 110/220 V AC pilot circuit or a 24 V DC PLC. The 2 m cable and red LED make setup and diagnostics easy.

The A type clips straight onto any SC bore with no extra accessory. It carries a 100 mA / 10 W contact, has no leakage current, and is rated IP67 for washdown areas over a -10 to 70 C range. We confirm exact fit from the datasheet on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC CS1 data. Clips onto the cylinder body; no accessory. Switching an inductive or lamp load arcs the contact, so add a flyback diode (DC) or RC snubber (AC) to extend life. Exact fit and accessory codes are confirmed from the datasheet on request.

How to choose

Choose the reed CS1 over the solid-state DS1 when you need AC-or-DC flexibility, zero leakage into a high-impedance input, or a direct relay or pilot-lamp drive; choose DS1 instead for very fast indexing or the highest cycle counts. The 100 mA / 10 W contact drives a small relay or lamp directly, while a PLC input draws only a few mA with large headroom.

About 2.5 V drops across the closed contact, which is negligible at 24 V. When switching an inductive load add a flyback diode (DC) or RC snubber (AC) to protect the contact and extend its life.

Applications

straighten

SC end-of-stroke check

Confirms a large SC cylinder has fully extended before the next step runs.

bolt

Direct AC pilot lamp

Drives a 220 V AC indicator lamp in a legacy panel without an interface relay.

sensors

PLC position input

Feeds a 24 V DC PLC input to sequence a clamp-and-drill station.

FAQ

Does the CS1A020 work on AC and DC?

Yes. As a reed contact it switches AC or DC from 5 to 240 V, so it suits both legacy AC circuits and 24 V DC PLCs. Max 100 mA / 10 W.

What cylinders does the A type fit?

The A type clips onto SC cylinders of any bore with no accessory. Exact fit is confirmed from the datasheet.
