The AirTAC Airtac DMS Electronic Cylinder Switches DMSG-M08020 is a genuine DMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a 2-wire output on 10-28 V DC with a m8 connector. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
The DMSG-M08020 belongs to AirTAC's DMS electronic switch range. Fitted into the groove of a magnet-carrying AirTAC cylinder, it switches its 2-wire output when the piston arrives. Power is 10-28 V DC; wiring is an M8 connector moulded onto a 2 m pigtail; the standard housing is rated IP64.
The 2 m of cable keeps the plug joint clear of hot or moving zones along the machine, so the disconnect point lands somewhere serviceable. That extra cable is a specification choice, not a delivery promise. Profile G defines only how the body seats in the cylinder groove - confirm the match to your cylinder series.

2-wire versions run 10-28 V DC; NPN / PNP 3-wire versions run 5-30 V DC. IP64 as standard. Order the RW version where coolant, washdown or constant cable flexing is present. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

The 2 m pigtail reaches out of a moving energy chain on a gantry loader, so the M8 joint sits at the fixed junction box instead of in the flexing section.
Signals top-of-stroke on a wafer-cassette lift cylinder, with the connector placed away from the clean zone for quick swap-out.
Confirms clamp state on an automated storage shuttle running on rail, wired through the M8 plug to the track's distributed I/O block.
This is the solid-state path: DC supply only, no contact bounce, quick cycling - a reed CMS switch is the alternative where 5-240 V AC/DC is what your panel offers. The 2-wire output behaves like a series mechanical contact, so it drops into legacy relay logic easily. With 2 m of cable before the M8 plug, the unplug point can sit outside guards or cable tracks. Choose the -RW build if washdown IP68 is needed, and always match the G profile to the cylinder groove. A magnet-equipped cylinder is required.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
Electronic (solid-state) sensor type, 2-wire output, 10-28 V DC supply, IP64 general-type protection, and an M8 connector with a 2 m lead. Profile G is the groove-fit code - verify it against your cylinder before ordering.
Electrically they match; the 2 m pigtail simply moves the disconnect point further from the cylinder. That helps when guards, hot zones or a moving cable track sit between the switch and the I/O box. Remember the cylinder needs the magnet option, and the G profile must seat correctly in its groove.
