The AirTAC Airtac DMS Electronic Cylinder Switches DMSH-M08 is a genuine DMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a 2-wire output on 10-28 V DC with a m8 connector. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
The DMSH-M08 belongs to AirTAC's DMS family of solid-state electronic switches, with a 2-wire output that detects the magnet built into an AirTAC cylinder piston. Wiring is an M8 connector on a 0.5 m pigtail, so the switch can be unplugged at the machine rather than cut out of the circuit. It runs on 10-28 V DC and the standard housing is IP64. Profile H governs the groove fit.
The connector is the maintenance story here: with an M8 mating cable you can swap a damaged switch or lead in seconds on a packaging line without opening the panel. As a 2-wire device it connects in series like a conventional contact, carrying the small leakage current typical of solid-state 2-wire outputs. Match the H profile to the cylinder's sensor groove before ordering, and confirm switching current and voltage drop from the datasheet.

2-wire versions run 10-28 V DC; NPN / PNP 3-wire versions run 5-30 V DC. IP64 as standard. Order the RW version where coolant, washdown or constant cable flexing is present. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

| Consider EMS | the mini 2-wire electronic switch for tight installations |
| Consider CMS | the reed alternative for AC circuits and voltages up to 240 V |
| Mounting parts | F-MQ (round body), F-ACT (tie-rod) |
On a horizontal flow-wrapper, the M8 plug lets a technician replace the switch at the sealing station without rewiring, keeping changeovers short.
Mounted on the gate cylinder of a sorting conveyor, the 0.5 m pigtail reaches a nearby M8 junction box at the machine frame.
Used on a benchtop fluid-handling manifold to confirm actuator end positions, with the connector allowing tool-free removal for cleaning.
If your panel uses quick-disconnect cabling, take this M8 version; otherwise flying leads in 2, 3, 5 or 10 m are the cheaper cut-to-length route. DMS electronic switches are DC-only and contact-free, while the CMS reed alternative tolerates 5-240 V AC or DC but uses a mechanical contact of finite life. A 2-wire output suits relay logic; pick the N or P 3-wire code when the PLC input card demands NPN or PNP. The H profile must seat in your cylinder's groove, and the cylinder itself needs the magnet option.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
Electronic (solid-state) switch with a 2-wire output, supplied at 10-28 V DC and protected to IP64 as a general-type unit. Wiring is an M8 connector with a 0.5 m lead; the H profile selects the cylinder-groove fit.
The M8 plug lets you disconnect the switch for service or swap a damaged cable without touching panel wiring - useful on machines with frequent changeovers. Flying leads are cheaper but must be cut, stripped and re-terminated each time. For harsher washdown duty, look at the -RW versions, which raise protection to IP68.
