About the Airtac DMSE Electronic Sensor DMSE-P030-W
AirTAC's DMSE-P030-W is a solid-state electronic switch with PNP 3-wire output, built to read the piston magnet of an AirTAC cylinder that was ordered with the magnet option. This variant uses a 3 m flying lead, accepts 5-30 V DC, and carries the general IP64 housing rating. The suffix W is a special-code position we do not document; we will confirm exactly what it covers from the datasheet on request.
As with every electronic DMS, switching is done without any moving contact, so the signal into a sourcing PLC input stays free of bounce even with frequent stroking. The three conductors also mean supply and signal are separate, simplifying diagnostics when a position is not reported. The E profile is a groove-fit code only - verify it against the cylinder's switch groove before you commit to an order.

The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

Is the Airtac DMSE Electronic Sensor DMSE-P030-W the Right Switch?
Use this switch on positive-logic (sourcing) PLC inputs where a 3 m tail is the right reach. NPN cards call for the -N counterpart. If the W variant is not what your spec sheet calls for, the plain DMSE-P030 is the same switch in the standard build; for wet or oily locations the -RW type raises protection to IP68. Any DMS switch, this one included, does nothing unless the cylinder piston has a magnet, and profile E must match the groove it clips into.
