The AirTAC Airtac EMSH Electronic Sensor EMSH-020 is a genuine EMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a 2-wire output on 10-28 V DC with a 2 m flying lead. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
This EMSH-020 is AirTAC's mini electronic switch for cylinder position sensing: a solid-state, 2-wire unit rated 10-28 V DC with IP64 protection in the general version. Its compact H-profile body snaps into the sensor groove of an AirTAC cylinder built with the magnet option and signals when the piston reaches it. Power arrives over a 2 m flying lead, the shortest documented cable in the range.
Being solid-state, it has no contact to bounce or wear, so short-stroke cycling on tight machines stays clean. Trim the 2 m lead to the exact run you need; the H profile is a groove-fit code, so verify it against your cylinder model before ordering.

Every EMS is 2-wire on a 10-28 V DC supply; there is no NPN / PNP version. IP64 as standard. Order the RW version where coolant, washdown or constant cable flexing is present. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

| H | Profile letter: the mounting / groove type that fits a particular cylinder body. This family offers G, H. It is a fit code, not a performance grade. |
| 020 | 2 m flying lead. 020 / 030 / 050 / 100 are 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 m flying leads; M08 and M12 are M8 / M12 connector versions. |

We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

Wire the 2 m lead in series so the press controller only advances when the ram cylinder has reached full bottom position.
Confirm each gate cylinder has seated before parcels are released onto the next lane.
Use the short lead on bench actuators where the switch sits close to the I/O terminal block.
Choose EMS over a CMS reed switch when your circuit is DC and you want a maintenance-free solid-state contact; the CMS is the pick if you need 5-240 V AC/DC flexibility. A 2 m flying lead is the economical route for short, cut-to-length runs close to the valve manifold, while M8 or M12 connector versions pay off where switches are swapped often during service. The cylinder must be ordered with its built-in magnet, and the H profile must match its groove.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
Type: electronic solid-state. Output: 2-wire. Supply: 10-28 V DC. Protection: IP64 (general type). Wiring: 2 m flying lead. It detects the piston magnet of an AirTAC cylinder ordered with the built-in magnet option.
The 2-wire EMS wires in series with your load like a mechanical switch, which is simple but passes a small leakage current. A 3-wire DMS in NPN or PNP form gives the PLC input a dedicated switched line with a cleaner signal, but the NPN or PNP type must match the input card. Match the H profile to your cylinder groove either way.
