The AirTAC AirTAC GFR400-15 Filter Regulator (GFR40015AF3W) is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The GFR400-15AF3W is an AirTAC G-series filter regulator - water and particulate removal plus pressure regulation in one body - with the fine 5 um filter element in place of the standard grade. This configuration is the size 400 unit with a 1/2 in PT port, an automatic drain that discharges condensate unaided, and an embedded square gauge scaled in bar.
It is a genuine AirTAC part, one point in a family spanning sizes 200 to 600 with 1/8 in to 1 in ports and options including manual drain, G (BSPP) or NPT threads, different gauge scales and a check valve. Published flow appears as curves rather than a single rated number, so we confirm flow and datasheet figures for your application on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| A | Drain: Automatic drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| (blank) | Mounting bracket included. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 3 | Gauge scale: bar. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| (blank) | PT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| (blank) | No reverse-flow valve (the default). |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Conditioning air for lab autoclaves and pneumatic bench instruments, where the 5 um element keeps fine particulates out of sensitive control valves and the automatic drain suits equipment left running overnight.
Supplying regulated air to an optical inspection and metrology station on a production line, with 5 um filtration safeguarding air bearings and actuated stages, and the bar gauge matching metrology-grade settings.
Feeding the registration and roller-control pneumatics of an offset printing press, where finer 5 um filtration protects precision pilot valves and the automatic drain keeps the bowl clear during long runs.
Choose the W (5 um) element over the standard 40 um grade when the downstream equipment is sensitive to finer particles; both grades share the same GFR400 body and 1/2 in PT port. The automatic drain suits unattended duty, with a 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi) adjustment range, while manual-drain versions allow 0.05-0.9 MPa (7-130 psi). Size 400 sits above the 200/300 frames for higher air demand - sizing follows the published flow curves rather than a single rating, so ask us to check your application first. Thread is PT standard with G (BSPP) and NPT as options; the gauge reads in bar, and psi or MPa scales are orderable.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the G-series as curves rather than a single rated figure, and element choice is one factor in where a unit sits on those curves, so we do not quote a number here. Share your pressure and air demand and we will confirm the GFR40015AF3W flow figures from the datasheet on request.
The 40 um grade is the standard choice for general plant air; the W-coded 5 um element is the option to order when finer particulate removal is needed downstream - for example ahead of precision valves, instruments or applicators. Function, port and body are the same; only the filtration grade differs.
