The AirTAC AirTAC GFR400-15 Filter Regulator (GFR40015ALF1W) is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The GFR series is a filter regulator: filtration and pressure regulation are built into one body, so the air is cleaned of water and particulate and then reduced to the working set pressure in a single unit. This model is a size 400 unit with a PT1/2 (1/2 in) port, an automatic drain that expels collected condensate on its own, a 5 um filter element, the low-pressure (L) regulator type for reduced set pressures, and an embedded square gauge with MPa scale. A mounting bracket is included.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. Across the GFR family you can choose sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with ports from 1/8 in to 1 in, differential-pressure (default), automatic or manual drains, 40 um standard or 5 um optional elements, square or external round gauges in MPa, psi or bar scales, PT as the standard thread and G (BSPP) or NPT as catalogue options. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi), the working temperature range is -5 to 70 C (non-freezing), and the 400-size bowl is PC (polycarbonate). Flow is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, so we confirm flow and datasheet figures on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. The low-pressure type adjusts over a lower band than standard; we confirm the exact figures from the factory datasheet. Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| A | Drain: Automatic drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| L | Low-pressure type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| (blank) | Mounting bracket included. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 1 | Gauge scale: MPa. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| (blank) | PT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| (blank) | No reverse-flow valve (the default). |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Regulates low set pressure to clamp cylinders on machining-center fixtures, with the 5 um element protecting directional valves and the automatic drain coping with condensate during unattended shifts.
Conditions supply air to low-pressure test rigs and calibration benches, where the square MPa gauge gives a direct local readout and the low-pressure type matches reduced settings.
Feeds guide-rail adjusters and reject-gate cylinders on a packaging conveyor, with automatic drainage keeping water out of the actuators.
Size and port set the capacity: this is the 400 size with a 1/2 in PT port, and stepping down to 300 (3/8 in) or up to 600 (3/4 in) changes how much air the unit can pass. Drain choice matters on unattended lines: automatic (this unit) needs no operator attention, manual needs periodic draining, and differential-pressure is the default. The 5 um element (the W option, fitted here) gives finer protection than the 40 um standard grade. The fitted gauge is the embedded square type in MPa; external round gauges and psi or bar scales are options. Thread is PT as standard - order G (BSPP) or NPT if your piping needs it - and a bracket is included. Because AirTAC publishes flow as curves, not a single rating, ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering; as the low-pressure (L) type, we also confirm its exact setting range from the datasheet on request.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for this series as performance curves rather than one rated figure, so we do not quote a single rated flow number. Send us your line pressure and air demand and we will confirm the correct size from the datasheet on request.
40 um is the standard filtration grade for general plant air. The 5 um element (the W option, fitted here) is selected when finer particulate protection is needed for downstream components such as precision valves and cylinders. Both grades are available across the GFR400 range.
