The AirTAC AirTAC GFR400-15 Filter Regulator (GFR40015ALJF1W) is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The GFR series combines an air filter and a pressure regulator in a single body: air is first cleaned of water and particulate, then reduced to the working set pressure, all in one unit. This model is a size 400 unit with a PT1/2 (1/2 in) port, an automatic drain that ejects collected condensate without operator attention, a 5 um filter element, the low-pressure (L) regulator type for reduced set pressures, and an embedded square gauge with MPa scale. It carries the J (no bracket) option, so it mounts directly on the pipework.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. Across the GFR family you can choose sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with ports from 1/8 in to 1 in, differential-pressure (default), automatic or manual drains, 40 um standard or 5 um optional elements, square or external round gauges in MPa, psi or bar scales, PT as the standard thread and G (BSPP) or NPT as catalogue options. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi), the working temperature range is -5 to 70 C (non-freezing), and the 400-size bowl is PC (polycarbonate). Flow is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, so we confirm flow and datasheet figures on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. The low-pressure type adjusts over a lower band than standard; we confirm the exact figures from the factory datasheet. Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| A | Drain: Automatic drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| L | Low-pressure type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 1 | Gauge scale: MPa. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| (blank) | PT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| (blank) | No reverse-flow valve (the default). |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Supplies pick-and-place cylinders on a high-cycle packaging machine, where the 5 um element protects the valve manifold and the automatic drain keeps condensate out without stopping the line.
Feeds divert and gate actuators on a distribution-center sortation conveyor, with low-pressure regulation matched to gentle product handling.
Conditions air to low-pressure glue or sealant applicators on a converting line, where finer 5 um filtration helps keep the applicator valves clean.
The 400 size with a 1/2 in PT port is the mid-step in the family; 300 (3/8 in) and 600 (3/4 in) are the neighbouring options as flow demand changes. The 5 um element (the W suffix, fitted here) is the finer grade versus the standard 40 um element. Drain type: automatic (this unit) needs no operator attention, manual needs periodic draining, and differential-pressure is the default. The fitted gauge is the embedded square type in MPa; external round gauges and psi or bar scales are alternatives in the code. Thread is PT as standard, with G (BSPP) and NPT as options, and the J suffix means no mounting bracket is included. Because flow is published as curves, not a single rating, ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering; we also confirm the exact setting range of the low-pressure type on request.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
Flow for this series is published as performance curves, not as a single rated figure, so we do not state a rated flow number. Share your line pressure and air demand with us and we will confirm the sizing from the datasheet on request.
Automatic drain (this unit) ejects collected condensate on its own, which suits unattended or hard-to-reach installations. Manual drain needs periodic operator attention, and differential-pressure drain is the catalogue default. All three are available in the GFR400 range - we confirm the exact drain-related figures on the datasheet on request.
