The AirTAC AirTAC GFR400-15 Filter Regulator (GFR40015MJF1W) is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR series combines a compressed-air filter and a pressure regulator in one body. This GFR40015MJF1W is the 400 size with a 1/2 in PT thread, a manual-drain polycarbonate bowl, and the 5 um (W) filter element for finer particle removal than the standard 40 um grade. The embedded square gauge is scaled in MPa, and the regulator adjusts from 0.05 to 0.9 MPa (7-130 psi) on this manual-drain version. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi); operating temperature range is -5 to 70 C, non-freezing.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The G series spans 200, 300, 400 and 600 sizes with PT, G (BSPP) and NPT thread options, automatic, manual or differential-pressure drains, 5 um or standard 40 um elements, gauge and bracket options, and a check-valve (K) variant. Flow is published as a curve rather than a single rated number; ask us and we will confirm the datasheet figures for your application on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| M | Drain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 1 | Gauge scale: MPa. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| (blank) | PT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| (blank) | No reverse-flow valve (the default). |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Feeds laboratory and QC test rigs that need clean, regulated compressed air at the bench, with the 5 um element guarding instruments and fittings from line particulate.
Supplies pneumatic positioners and control valve actuation on process lines, where the 5 um grade protects small orifice components and the regulator holds the signal-side supply steady.
Prepares air for pick-and-place heads and small actuation on electronics assembly cells, filtering plant air to 5 um before it reaches delicate gripper circuits at a set pressure.
Pick the W suffix when the equipment downstream - valve stacks, cylinders or tooling with close clearances - needs finer filtration than the standard 40 um element provides; 5 um is the finer of the two published grades for this series. This 400 body serves 1/2 in piping; drop to the 300 size for 3/8 in lines or step to the 600 for larger headers. The M drain means manual venting, suited to installations with daily operator checks; choose automatic or differential-pressure drain codes where the bowl must clear itself. The square gauge reads in MPa, with psi and bar scales and an external round gauge available as catalogue options. PT is the standard thread and G or NPT versions are ordered as specifications. The J suffix means no mounting bracket is included. Because flow appears as curves and not a single rating, send us your application details and we will confirm sizing against the datasheet before ordering.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes the flow of this model as a curve across pressures rather than a single rated figure, so we do not state one number. Share your working pressure and consumption and we will confirm the datasheet figures for your operating point on request before you order.
The W suffix fits the 5 um element for finer particle removal than the 40 um standard grade - the choice for instrumentation, positioners and delicate tooling. Note that both grades drain through the same bowl, and the drain code (M here for manual, A for automatic, blank for differential-pressure) is selected independently of the filter grade.
