The AirTAC AirTAC GFR400-15 Filter Regulator 1/2 in NPT, 40 um is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 40 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a size-400 filter regulator that removes water and particulate from compressed air and regulates downstream pressure in a single body. This configuration has 1/2 in NPT ports, a manual drain bowl in polycarbonate, a standard 40 um filter element, and an embedded square gauge reading in psi. The manual drain means an operator opens the bowl drain to expel collected condensate, which suits installations visited on a regular maintenance round. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi), the standard regulation range with manual drain is 0.05-0.9 MPa (7-130 psi), and the operating temperature range is -5 to 70 C (non-freezing).
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family is available in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with port sizes from 1/8 in to 1 in, a choice of differential-pressure, automatic or manual drain, a 5 um element option (code W), gauge scale options in MPa, psi or bar, and G (BSPP) or NPT threads as order options alongside the PT standard. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us to confirm the figures for your application on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| M | Drain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |

| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 2 | Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| (blank) | Filtering grade 40 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| (blank) | No reverse-flow valve (the default). |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Feeds clean, regulated air to a CNC machining centre's pneumatic tool-change and clamping circuits, with the 1/2 in NPT ports matching the main drop to the cell and the psi gauge letting operators set and check working pressure at a glance.
Conditions the air feeding conveyor diverters, sealing jaws and carton-closing cylinders on a packaging line, where the manual drain suits a line that is blown down and checked at the start of every shift.
Installed at the point of use on a factory air ring main to serve assembly benches and hand-held pneumatic tools, filtering bulk water and rust from the distribution system while holding a stable, preset working pressure.
Start with the size and port: the 400 size with 1/2 in NPT ports sits in the middle-to-upper part of the GFR range, so match it against the flow your line actually needs - we can confirm the published flow curve for the GFR400 on request before you order. Choose the drain type deliberately: this unit has a manual drain, which is right where someone walks the line regularly; choose automatic drain if the bowl is mounted out of reach, or differential-pressure drain as the catalogue default. The standard element is 40 um; specify the 5 um W option if downstream equipment needs finer filtration. The embedded square gauge on this unit reads in psi, and MPa or bar scales are available; an external round gauge is optional. PT is the standard thread, with G (BSPP) and NPT as catalogue options - this unit is ordered in NPT. A mounting bracket is included.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR400 as curves, not as a single rated figure, so we do not quote a number here. Tell us your application and we will confirm the relevant flow figures from the datasheet on request before you order.
This configuration is ordered with a manual drain (code M): an operator opens the bowl drain to release collected condensate, which suits bowls that are checked on a routine round. The GFR family is also available with automatic drain (code A) or the differential-pressure drain as the default - just order the corresponding code.
