The AirTAC AirTAC GFR400-15 Filter Regulator NPT1/2, 5 um, Bar is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a differential-pressure drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and regulates downstream pressure in one body. This configuration is the size 400 unit with a 1/2 in NPT port, the fine 5 um filter element (code W), a differential-pressure drain, an embedded square gauge scaled in bar, and a reverse (check) valve fitted. The standard regulator covers an adjustment range of 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi), and the maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi). Operating temperature is -5 to 70 C, non-freezing. The polycarbonate bowl suits this size; only the 600 size uses an aluminium alloy bowl.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family is available in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with port sizes from 1/8 in to 1 in, a choice of 40 um standard or 5 um fine filtration, differential-pressure, automatic or manual drains, gauge and scale options, G/NPT thread variants and bracket choices. We confirm flow and other datasheet figures on request, since flow is published as curves rather than a single rated number.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| (blank) | Drain: Differential-pressure drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 3 | Gauge scale: bar. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| K | Reverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted. |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Feeds filtered, pressure-regulated air to the tool-change and clamping circuits of a CNC machining centre, with the 5 um element protecting precision valves from fine particulate.
Conditions the air driving stopper, pusher and gating cylinders on a bottling conveyor, holding a stable regulated setpoint so indexing stays repeatable through the shift.
Prepares air upstream of a valve island on a cartoning or wrapping machine, with the check valve holding downstream pressure if the supply side is momentarily interrupted.
Step up or down through the GFR sizes (200/300/400/600) and their ports (1/8 in to 1 in) to match the air demand of the line; the size 400 with a 1/2 in port sits in the upper mid-range of the family. Choose the 5 um element (this model) when downstream valves, cylinders or instruments need finer filtration than the 40 um standard element provides. The differential-pressure drain on this unit bleeds condensate automatically as the pressure differential across the element builds, with no operator attention. The embedded square gauge reads in bar; MPa and psi scales and an external round gauge are alternatives. NPT threading is ordered as a variant (PT is the catalogue standard; G/BSPP is also available), and this model omits the mounting bracket. Because flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves, not as a single rated figure, so we do not quote a number here. Tell us your application and we will confirm the flow and the full datasheet figures for this model on request before you order.
K means a reverse (check) valve is fitted. It lets downstream pressure be held when the upstream supply drops, which is useful on circuits where a momentary supply loss must not dump the regulated pressure. Units without K have no check valve.
