AirTAC GFR400-15G Filter Regulator, G1/2, Manual Drain

The AirTAC AirTAC GFR400-15G Filter Regulator, G1/2, Manual Drain is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 40 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.

About the AirTAC GFR400-15G Filter Regulator, G1/2, Manual Drain

The AirTAC GFR400-15G is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and holds downstream pressure at your setpoint, in one body. This size 400 unit comes with a 1/2 in G (BSPP) port, a manual drain on the polycarbonate bowl, a 40 um standard filter element, a round pressure gauge reading in psi, and a built-in reverse-flow (check) valve. It is supplied without a mounting bracket. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi), the regulator adjusts from 0.05 to 0.9 MPa (7-130 psi) on this manual-drain version, and the operating temperature range is -5 to 70 C, non-freezing.

This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family spans sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with ports from 1/8 in to 1 in, and options across the range include automatic or manual draining, a 5 um element (code W), square or round gauges with MPa, psi or bar scales, G or NPT threads, and a mounting bracket. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, so ask us to confirm sizing and any datasheet figure for your application before ordering.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

15Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2".
MDrain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)).
(blank)Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type.
JSupplied without bracket.
(blank)Pressure gauge fitted (blank).
CGauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square.
2Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar.
(blank)Filtering grade 40 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist.
GG (BSPP) thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT.
KReverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted.

Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.

A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

precision_manufacturing

CNC machining cell air prep

Filtered, regulated air for pallet clamps and pneumatic tool circuits on a CNC machining cell, with the psi gauge giving operators a visible setpoint at the machine and the check valve holding it if upstream supply dips.

conveyor_belt

Packaging line cylinder supply

Stable pressure for the pick-and-place and sealing cylinders along a packaging conveyor line, with water and scale particles removed before they reach the valves.

air

Paint spray booth manifold

Clean, dry, set-pressure air at the gun on a spray booth manifold, with the manual drain opened between shifts to clear collected moisture from the bowl.

Is the AirTAC GFR400-15G Filter Regulator, G1/2, Manual Drain the Right Unit?

Size 400 with a 1/2 in G port sits in the middle of the GFR range (sizes 200-600, ports 1/8 in to 1 in); step up or down according to the air demand of your line, and we will confirm flow against the published curves before you order. This unit drains manually, so plan a routine bowl-drain check into maintenance; a differential-pressure drain (the range default) or a fully automatic drain can be ordered instead. The 40 um element is standard and a finer 5 um element (code W) is available where downstream equipment needs it. The round gauge on this model reads in psi; square gauges and MPa or bar scales are alternatives. On thread: this model is ordered with G (BSPP); PT is the standard thread and NPT is also a catalogue option. No mounting bracket is fitted; a bracket can be added.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Body size for your peak flow (PT1/2" here)
  • ✓ Element 40 µm or 5 µm
  • ✓ Drain sets the regulating band
  • ✓ Gauge fitted, shape and scale
  • ✓ Thread PT, G (BSPP) or NPT
  • ✓ Oil needed downstream? Use GFC instead

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Mount vertically, bowl down, following the airflow arrow.
  • check One body does the filtering and the regulating — no separate regulator needed.
  • check Keep inlet pressure at or below 1.0 MPa (145 psi).
  • check Adjust only within 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi).
  • check Drain condensate before the bowl fills.
  • check Keep the unit above freezing (-5 to +70 °C, unfreeze).

The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.

AirTAC GFR400-15G Filter Regulator, G1/2, Manual Drain FAQ

AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves rather than a single rated figure, so we do not quote a number here. Tell us your line demand and we will confirm sizing against the datasheet curves on request.

This model has a manual drain: someone opens the bowl drain as part of routine checks. If you want draining without operator action, the GFR range can be ordered with a differential-pressure drain (the default) or a fully automatic drain instead.
