The AirTAC Airtac MD Multi-Position Clamping Cylinder MD20X70S is a genuine MD multi-mount cylinder (double acting), 20 mm bore. Its compact square body fixes from six directions and mounts side by side to save space. It delivers about 157.1 N of push force at 0.5 MPa. A bumper cushions the impact.
The MD20X70S is an AirTAC MD-series multi-mount cylinder: a compact square-body, double acting actuator with a 20 mm bore and 70 mm stroke that can be fixed from six directions - front, back, left, right, top and bottom - and mounted side by side to save space. On a typical 0.5 MPa supply it delivers about 157.1 N of theoretical push force for light clamping, positioning and stopper tasks, with a bumper cushioning each end of the stroke and switch slots machined around the body.
This is a genuine AirTAC part in the standard MD family, where limited rod rotation is acceptable; choose the MK family when the rod must not turn. The trailing S means this SKU includes the position-detecting magnet. Because 70 mm is beyond the standard double-acting stroke table for a 20 mm bore (up to 60 mm), we confirm this stroke, dimensions and sizing from the datasheet on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC MD/MK multi-mount data. The front cover and piston are short, so avoid an over-long stroke. An optional high-temperature seal material extends the range to 0 to 150 C. Overall dimensions vary per stroke and allowable side-load is published as curves — ask us and we confirm from the datasheet.
For thrust, the 20 mm bore gives about 157.1 N push (131.9 N pull) at 0.5 MPa - go to 25 or 32 mm for more force or 6-16 mm for less. MD permits slight rod rotation; MK prevents it. Acting types are double acting (MD), single push (MSD), single pull (MTD), double rod (MDD) and adjustable stroke (MDJ, adding a 10/20/30 mm adjustable range). Standard bore 20 double-acting strokes stop at 60 mm, so the 70 mm stroke here needs confirmation with us, and the short covers argue against over-long strokes. Add S for magnet versions, and select PT (default) or G ports.
Fix the cylinder to the underside or side of a light parts conveyor so the rod rises to stop flowing workpieces, with the magnet signalling the retracted position to the controller.
Mount the body from its base face under a small assembly jig to raise a part a set distance for inspection, using the bumper to settle the part at the top of stroke.
Line several cylinders up side by side on a compact gantry to nudge small cartons into position, with the integrated magnet confirming extend and retract states at each station.
MD cylinders like this one are the standard type and allow a small amount of rod rotation. If your tooling plate or gate must stay orientation-locked, specify the MK no-rotating family instead, which adds a no-rotating plate, bushing and fixed rod. Everything else - bore, stroke, mounting - is chosen the same way.
The published double-acting stroke table for the 20 mm bore runs up to 60 mm, so 70 mm is outside the standard range and should be confirmed with us from the datasheet before ordering. The multi-mount body's short covers also mean an over-long stroke should be avoided; we can also provide exact dimensions and side-load limits for your layout.
