The AirTAC GFR400-10 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT3/8, 5 um is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT3/8" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-10 is a filter regulator in one body: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and holds the downstream pressure at your set point. This size 400 unit has a 3/8 in NPT port, a 5 um filter element (code W), an automatic drain that ejects collected condensate without manual attention, and an embedded square gauge scaled in bar. A reverse/check valve is fitted, and the unit is supplied without a mounting bracket. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi), the standard regulation range for this automatic-drain version is 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi), and the operating temperature range is -5 to 70 C (non-freezing). The polycarbonate bowl suits the 400 size; only the 600 size uses an aluminium alloy bowl.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family is published in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with 1/8 in to 1 in ports, and with choices of drain type (differential-pressure, automatic or manual), filter grade (40 um standard or 5 um), gauge scale (MPa, psi or bar) and thread (PT standard, with G and NPT as order options). Flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us to confirm the datasheet and sizing for your application.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 10 | Port size PT3/8". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| A | Drain: Automatic drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 3 | Gauge scale: bar. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| K | Reverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted. |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Conditioning the air feeding clamp and lift cylinders on a bottling or filling line: the 5 um element protects the valve seats from particles while the regulator holds a steady actuation pressure despite compressor swings.
Supplying clean, regulated air to tool-clamp and chip-clearing circuits on a CNC machining centre, where the automatic drain keeps condensate out of the bowl during unattended shifts and the check valve holds downstream pressure on air loss.
Feeding the air cylinders that divert cartons on a distribution conveyor, with the square bar gauge giving operators a visible set point and the 3/8 in port matching the drop-leg plumbing between the main and the gate valve.
Size 400 with a 3/8 in port sits in the middle of the GFR range; step up to 600 or down to 300 depending on the flow your line needs, and we will confirm the curve against your demand before you order. This unit already carries the finer 5 um element - choose it where downstream valves and cylinders are sensitive to particles; the 40 um standard grade suits general supply. The automatic drain is the right choice where bowls are hard to reach or the line runs unattended; manual or differential-pressure drain versions are available if you prefer. The square gauge is scaled in bar here, and MPa or psi scales can be ordered. NPT thread is specified on this code; PT is the standard and G is also available. No mounting bracket is included on this code - order the bracket option if you panel- or wall-mount the unit.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR400 series as curves, not as a single rated figure, so we do not quote a number here. Send us your line pressure, set pressure and air demand and we will confirm the datasheet curve and check the sizing for your application before you order.
The code A sets the automatic drain, which ejects collected condensate on its own - useful where the bowl is mounted out of reach or the line runs without an operator. The W code sets the 5 um filter element, one grade finer than the 40 um standard, for downstream equipment that needs cleaner air. Both are factory build options on the GFR400 series.
