The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator NPT 1/2 in, 5 um is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a size-400 filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and sets downstream pressure in a single body. This configuration has 1/2 in NPT ports, a 5 um filter element for finer filtration than the standard 40 um grade, an automatic drain that ejects collected condensate without manual attention, and a round pressure gauge reading in psi. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi) and the regulator adjusts from 0.15 to 0.9 MPa (20-130 psi). Operating temperature is -5 to 70 C, non-freezing.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family is available in sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with port sizes from 1/8 in to 1 in, a choice of PT, G or NPT thread, manual, automatic or differential-pressure drains, 40 um or 5 um elements, and gauges in MPa, psi or bar scales. Flow figures are published as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us to confirm sizing and datasheet details for your application.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| A | Drain: Automatic drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| C | Gauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square. |
| 2 | Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| (blank) | No reverse-flow valve (the default). |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Cleaning and regulating the shop-air feed to a machining centre's pneumatic tool-changer and clamping circuits, where the 5 um element helps protect precision valves from fine particles and the automatic drain copes with condensate in a busy shop.
Conditioning the air feeding cylinder-driven diverters and pushers on a packaging conveyor, with the regulator set once to the pressure the cylinders were sized for and the psi gauge giving operators a clear reading at the panel.
Filtering and regulating air at individual assembly stations in a vehicle plant, where the 1/2 in NPT connection serves higher-demand impact-tool circuits and the automatic drain keeps the bowl clear between maintenance rounds.
Start with the size and port: the 400 frame with 1/2 in NPT ports suits lines whose required flow sits above what 300-size units with 1/2 in and smaller ports comfortably pass; step up to 600 or down to 300 as your demand dictates. Choose the drain to match access: automatic (as here) suits installations that are not checked daily, manual suits attended stations, and differential-pressure draining suits duty where the bowl empties as pressure drop builds. The 5 um element on this unit is the finer of the two published grades (40 um is standard) - pick 5 um where downstream valves and instruments need cleaner air. The round psi gauge is the external option; an embedded square gauge is standard, and MPa or bar scales can be ordered instead. PT is the standard thread; G and NPT are order options, as this unit's NPT shows. Brackets are optional on GFR units and this code specifies no bracket.
Because flow is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for GFR units as performance curves rather than a single rated number, so we do not quote a rated flow, Cv or SCFM figure. Tell us your application and required flow, and we will confirm sizing from the datasheet on request before you order.
Both are read from the code. In GFR400-15AJC2WT, A is the automatic drain, which ejects collected condensate on its own instead of waiting for a manual bleed, and W is the 5 um filter grade, finer than the 40 um standard. If you prefer a manual or differential-pressure drain or the standard element, those are orderable variants of the same size-400 unit.
