The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in, 5 um is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and sets a stable downstream working pressure in one body. This size 400 unit is threaded 1/2 in NPT, carries a 5 um filter element (code W), drains condensate automatically (code A), and is fitted with the embedded square gauge reading in bar (code F3) plus a reverse/check valve (code K). No mounting bracket is included with this configuration (code J).
This is a genuine AirTAC part in the GFR family, which spans sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with port sizes from 1/8 in to 1 in and PT, G or NPT threads. Drain type, filter grade, gauge style and scale, and check valve are all selectable. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, so we confirm the datasheet and sizing figures on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| A | Drain: Automatic drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| F | Gauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square. |
| 3 | Gauge scale: bar. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| K | Reverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted. |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Feeding cleaned, pressure-regulated air to the tool-change clamps and pneumatic actuators on a machining centre, with the 5 um element protecting fine control valves from particulate and the automatic drain handling condensate in a continuously running shop.
Conditioning the air feeding sealing jaws and carton-closing cylinders on a packaging line, where the regulator holds a repeatable working pressure for consistent seal force and the check valve holds the downstream setting if upstream supply dips.
Supplying regulated air to bench-top test rigs and pneumatic instrumentation panels, where the 5 um grade and the bar-scaled square gauge give a clean, readable set point at the panel and the automatic drain keeps the bowl clear without daily attention.
Choose the size and port step against the air demand of the line: this GFR400 unit takes 1/2 in NPT. Pick the drain to suit access: automatic drain (this unit) suits installations that are not checked daily, manual drain suits attended stations, and differential-pressure drain is the default. The 5 um element (W) is the finer grade; 40 um is the standard element if coarser protection is enough. The embedded square gauge is standard, here scaled in bar; an external round gauge is optional and scales are available in MPa, psi or bar. Thread is NPT on this unit; PT is the standard and G is also a catalogue option. Bracket is omitted here (J); a bracket can be selected on other configurations.
Because flow is published as curves and not as a single rated number, ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering - we will check the datasheet figures with you.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves rather than a single rated figure, so there is no one rated-flow number we can quote. Tell us your line pressure, set pressure and air demand and we will confirm the sizing from the datasheet on request before you order.
The code A in GFR40015AJF3WTK specifies the automatic drain, which ejects collected condensate without manual attention, and the code W specifies the 5 um filter element, one grade finer than the 40 um standard. Manual and differential-pressure drains and the 40 um element are available on other GFR400 configurations if you prefer.
