AirTAC GFR400 · Filter Regulator (filter + regulator in one body)

GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in, psi Gauge

The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in, psi Gauge is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 40 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a differential-pressure drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.

About the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in, psi Gauge

The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and sets downstream pressure in a single body. This size-400 unit is specified for 1/2 in NPT ports, carries the standard 40 um filter element, and drains condensate by differential pressure, so the bowl empties as the pressure differential across the element builds. The fitted round gauge reads in psi, and the regulator is the standard type with a 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi) setting range.

This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family runs from size 200 to 600, with port options from 1/8 in to 1 in, automatic, manual or differential-pressure drains, an optional 5 um element (code W), embedded square or external round gauges in MPa, psi or bar scales, and G, NPT or PT threads. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, so ask us to confirm the datasheet figures for your application.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

Model Code: GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in, psi Gauge

GFR400G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range.
15Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2".
(blank)Drain: Differential-pressure drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)).
(blank)Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type.
JSupplied without bracket.
(blank)Pressure gauge fitted (blank).
CGauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square.
2Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar.
(blank)Filtering grade 40 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist.
TNPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT.
(blank)No reverse-flow valve (the default).

Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.

A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Where the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in, psi Gauge Is Used

precision_manufacturing

CNC machining cell air supply

Clean, regulated air feeding tool-clamp and chuck-actuation circuits on a machining centre, where the 1/2 in NPT connection matches the cell's main drop and the psi gauge lets maintenance read settings in familiar units.

conveyor_belt

Packaging line cylinder supply

Filtering and regulating the air that drives carton-forming and case-sealing cylinders on a packaging conveyor, with the differential-pressure drain keeping the bowl clear through continuous shifts.

factory

Plant air drop for assembly stations

A point-of-use filter regulator on a factory assembly bench, delivering filtered air at a set pressure to air tools and small actuators while the 40 um element protects the downstream fittings.

Is the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in, psi Gauge the Right Unit?

Start with the port step: this unit is 1/2 in NPT, and the size-400 body suits lines where 1/2 in piping is already the plant standard. Choose the drain to match access: automatic drain where the unit is hard to reach, manual where an operator walks the line, differential-pressure (this model) where you want the bowl to empty as the element loads. Pick the 40 um standard element for general plant air, or the 5 um W option where downstream valves and cylinders need finer filtration. Gauge scale (MPa, psi or bar) and thread (PT standard, G or NPT to order) are decodable choices, and a bracket can be added where panel fixing is not available.

Because flow is published as curves and not a single rating, ask us to confirm sizing against your air demand before ordering.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Body size for your peak flow (PT1/2" here)
  • ✓ Element 40 µm or 5 µm
  • ✓ Drain sets the regulating band
  • ✓ Gauge fitted, shape and scale
  • ✓ Thread PT, G (BSPP) or NPT
  • ✓ Oil needed downstream? Use GFC instead

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Mount vertically, bowl down, following the airflow arrow.
  • check One body does the filtering and the regulating — no separate regulator needed.
  • check Keep inlet pressure at or below 1.0 MPa (145 psi).
  • check Adjust only within 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi).
  • check Drain condensate before the bowl fills.
  • check Keep the unit above freezing (-5 to +70 °C, unfreeze).

The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.

GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT 1/2 in, psi Gauge FAQ

AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR400 series as curves, not as a single rated figure, so we do not quote a number here. Tell us your air demand and line conditions and we will confirm the flow from the datasheet on request before you order.

The blank drain code on this model means differential-pressure drainage: condensate is expelled as the pressure drop across the 40 um element builds, with no operator action needed. If you prefer an automatic drain (code A) or a manual drain (code M), those are catalogue options in the same size.
