The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator, NPT1/2, 5 um is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 combines water and particulate filtration with pressure regulation in a single body. This configuration is built around 1/2 in NPT ports, a 5 um filter element for finer air cleaning than the standard 40 um grade, and a manual drain you operate by hand to empty collected condensate. The regulator is the standard type with a 0.05-0.9 MPa (7-130 psi) adjustment range, a round external gauge reading in psi is fitted, and a reverse/check valve is included to hold downstream pressure when the supply drops. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi) and the working temperature range is -5 to 70 C, non-freezing.
This is a genuine AirTAC part from the GFR400 series, one of four sizes (200, 300, 400, 600) that step up in port size and flow capacity. Across the series you can order automatic, manual or differential-pressure drains, 40 um or 5 um filter grades, embedded square or external round gauges with MPa, psi or bar scales, and PT, G or NPT threads. Flow for this unit is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, so ask us to confirm the datasheet figures for your application.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| M | Drain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| (blank) | Mounting bracket included. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| C | Gauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square. |
| 2 | Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| T | NPT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| K | Reverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted. |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Feeds filtered, regulated air to the clutch and counterbalance circuits of a mechanical punch press, where the 5 um element protects directional valves from particulate and the check valve holds set pressure through supply dips.
Prepares air for the clamp and gating cylinders on a carton packaging line, giving one adjustment point for the working pressure and a manual drain point at the drop for condensate collected on the machine run.
Supplies the air cylinders that divert parcels on a distribution conveyor, with the regulator set once for consistent gate speed and the round psi gauge letting technicians verify setpoint at a glance during shift checks.
Size 400 with 1/2 in ports sits in the upper-middle of the GFR range; step up to 600 or down to 300 depending on the flow your line needs - we will confirm the flow curves against your demand before you order. The 5 um element (code W) suits actuation that tolerates less particulate than the 40 um standard; note that finer filtration can be traded against element servicing interval. The manual drain means an operator or maintenance routine drains the bowl by hand - choose the automatic drain variant if nobody is on site to do that. This unit ships as specified with a round psi gauge and a reverse/check valve; MPa or bar scales and the embedded square gauge are available as alternatives. Thread here is NPT; PT and G (BSPP) are order options. A mounting bracket is included.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves, not as a single rated number, so we do not quote a figure here. Tell us your application and we will confirm the flow and sizing from the datasheet on request before you order.
The M in this model code specifies a manual drain: condensate collected in the bowl is emptied by operating the drain by hand, which suits installations with a regular maintenance routine. If the unit will be unattended, the automatic drain variant of the same GFR400 size is available to order.
