The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2 5 um Low-Pressure is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a size-400 filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and regulates downstream pressure in a single body. This configuration is built for a 1/2 in PT port, carries the fine 5 um filter element (code W) for cleaner air than the standard 40 um grade, and uses a manual drain so an operator opens the bowl drain to discharge collected condensate. It is the low-pressure (L) type, and this unit is ordered with an external round gauge scaled in psi plus a reverse/check valve (K) fitted and no mounting bracket.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family spans sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with ports from 1/8 in to 1 in, a choice of drain types, 40 um standard or 5 um fine filtration, gauge styles and scales, and PT, G or NPT threads. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, so we confirm the datasheet and sizing figures for your application on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. The low-pressure type adjusts over a lower band than standard; we confirm the exact figures from the factory datasheet. Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| M | Drain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)). |
| L | Low-pressure type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| C | Gauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square. |
| 2 | Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| (blank) | PT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| K | Reverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted. |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Feeds filtered, regulated air to clamps and fixtures on a machining cell that runs a reduced supply pressure, with the 5 um element protecting the clamping valves from particulate and water carryover.
Installed at the drop of a packaging machine to condition the air before it reaches actuators and seal cylinders, with the manual drain bled during shift changeover and the psi gauge giving operators a local pressure readout.
Conditions the supply to conveyor divertors, stoppers and pusher cylinders, where the reverse/check valve holds the downstream circuit and the fine 5 um grade keeps small control valves clear of debris.
Size 400 with a 1/2 in PT port suits lines running higher air demand than the 200/300 sizes; step up to 600 or down to 300 according to the flow your circuit needs. Choose the manual drain where an operator is on site to bleed the bowl, or ask about automatic and differential-pressure drain versions if you want unattended condensate removal. The 5 um element here is the finer option against the 40 um standard grade - pick it when downstream valves and cylinders need cleaner air. Gauge scale is psi on this unit (MPa and bar scales are alternatives), and PT is the standard thread with G and NPT available to order.
Because flow is published as curves rather than a single rated figure, ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering. The exact regulation range of the low-pressure (L) type is likewise confirmed from the datasheet on request.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves, not as a single rated number, so we do not quote a figure here. Tell us your operating pressure and air demand and we will confirm the flow and sizing from the datasheet for this 1/2 in, size-400 unit before you order.
The M in the code sets a manual drain: an operator opens the bowl drain to discharge collected water, which suits attended installations - automatic and differential-pressure drain versions are available if you prefer unattended operation. The W sets the 5 um fine filtration grade, finer than the 40 um standard element, for cleaner air to downstream equipment.
