GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, 5 um, Manual Drain

The AirTAC GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, 5 um, Manual Drain is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a manual drain and regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.

About the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, 5 um, Manual Drain

The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and holds downstream pressure steady, in a single body. This 400-size unit is ported PT1/2 (1/2 in, PT thread as standard; G and NPT are order options), carries the finer 5 um filter element, drains by hand through its manual drain, and is fitted with the embedded square gauge scaled in psi. The polycarbonate bowl lets you see condensate at a glance. Maximum inlet pressure is 1.0 MPa (145 psi) and the regulator adjusts from 0.05 to 0.9 MPa (7-130 psi). Operating temperature is -5 to 70 C, non-freezing.

This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family spans sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with ports from 1/8 to 1 in, a choice of 40 um standard or 5 um filtration, differential-pressure, automatic or manual drains, gauge scales in MPa, psi or bar, and an optional reverse/check valve. Flow for this series is published as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us to confirm the datasheet and sizing for your application.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

GFR400G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range.
15Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2".
MDrain: Manual drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi)).

JSupplied without bracket.
(blank)Pressure gauge fitted (blank).
FGauge shape: Square. C is round, F is square.
2Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar.
WFiltering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist.
(blank)PT thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT.
(blank)No reverse-flow valve (the default).

Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.

  • GFR600PT3/4" - PT1"

A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Where the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, 5 um, Manual Drain Is Used

precision_manufacturing

CNC machining cell clamping

Feeds filtered, regulated air to the pneumatic clamps and tool-change cylinders on a CNC machining centre, keeping clamp pressure steady while the 5 um element protects the fine valves downstream.

factory

Food packaging line actuation

Supplies cleaned, pressure-controlled air to the wrapper and cartoner actuators on a food packaging line, with the manual drain allowing a scheduled end-of-shift blow-down of collected condensate.

science

Laboratory automation air supply

Conditions the compressed air feeding lab automation and analytical-instrument pneumatics, where the 5 um grade and a stable setpoint protect sensitive pilot valves and actuators.

Is the GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, 5 um, Manual Drain the Right Unit?

Size the 400 frame against your required flow: the 200/300/400/600 steps carry progressively larger ports, here 1/2 in PT (G or NPT thread available to order). Because the drain is manual, plan a routine blow-down; the 5 um element suits points where finer particulate matters, while 40 um is the standard grade for bulk protection. The square gauge reads in psi, with MPa and bar scales as alternatives, and this J-coded unit is supplied without a mounting bracket - choose a bracketed variant if you need to mount it. Flow is published as curves rather than one rated figure, so ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Body size for your peak flow (PT1/2" here)
  • ✓ Element 40 µm or 5 µm
  • ✓ Drain sets the regulating band
  • ✓ Gauge fitted, shape and scale
  • ✓ Thread PT, G (BSPP) or NPT
  • ✓ Oil needed downstream? Use GFC instead

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Mount vertically, bowl down, following the airflow arrow.
  • check One body does the filtering and the regulating — no separate regulator needed.
  • check Keep inlet pressure at or below 1.0 MPa (145 psi).
  • check Adjust only within 0.05 - 0.9 MPa (7 - 130 psi).
  • check Drain condensate before the bowl fills.
  • check Keep the unit above freezing (-5 to +70 °C, unfreeze).

The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. Without the K option, air cannot flow back through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.

GFR400-15 AirTAC Filter Regulator PT1/2, 5 um, Manual Drain FAQ

AirTAC publishes flow for the GFR series as curves rather than a single rated figure, so we do not quote a number here. Tell us your application and we will confirm the datasheet flow curve and check the sizing against your air demand before you order.

The M in GFR400-15MJF2W specifies a manual drain: condensate collects in the polycarbonate bowl until an operator opens the drain. If you prefer unattended operation, the same 400-size filter regulator is also available with an automatic or differential-pressure drain - ask us for those variants.
