The AirTAC GFR400-15 G1/2 AirTAC Filter Regulator, 5 um, Auto Drain is a genuine G-series filter regulator: water separation, 5 µm particulate filtration and balanced-type pressure regulation combined in a single body. It has PT1/2" ports, a automatic drain and regulates 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). It does not lubricate — add a GL lubricator, or order the GFC two-unit set, if downstream equipment needs oil.
The AirTAC GFR400-15 is a filter regulator: it removes water and particulate from compressed air and regulates downstream pressure in a single body. This size 400 unit carries a G1/2 (BSPP) female port, a 5 um filter element for finer filtration than the standard 40 um grade, and an automatic drain that expels collected condensate without manual attention. Outlet pressure is set across the standard 0.15-0.9 MPa (20-130 psi) range, read on the fitted external round gauge with a psi scale, and a reverse/check valve is fitted to hold downstream pressure if the supply drops. The polycarbonate bowl suits the non-freezing -5 to 70 C operating range, and this configuration is supplied without a mounting bracket.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GFR family spans sizes 200, 300, 400 and 600 with ports from 1/8 to 1 inch, a choice of differential-pressure, automatic or manual drain, 40 um or 5 um filtration, embedded square or external round gauges in MPa, psi or bar scales, and PT, G or NPT threads. Flow is published as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us to confirm sizing and datasheet figures for your application before ordering.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The regulating band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains regulate 0.15 - 0.9 MPa, a manual drain regulates 0.05 - 0.9 MPa. Standard type, regulating 0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi). Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GFR400 | G-series filter regulator, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| A | Drain: Automatic drain — this also sets the regulating band (0.15 - 0.9 MPa (20 - 130 psi)). |
| (blank) | Standard type. Blank is standard, L is the low-pressure type. |
| J | Supplied without bracket. |
| (blank) | Pressure gauge fitted (blank). |
| C | Gauge shape: Round. C is round, F is square. |
| 2 | Gauge scale: psi. 1 is MPa, 2 is psi, 3 is bar. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| G | G (BSPP) thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
| K | Reverse-flow (reflux) valve fitted. |
Field order is size, port, drain, type, bracket, gauge, shape, scale, grade, thread, reflux — a blank position takes the default. Example: GFR300-08 is a 300 body, PT1/4", differential drain, standard type, bracket included, gauge fitted, 40 µm, PT thread, no reflux valve.
A larger body carries a larger port and holds set pressure better as flow rises. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom. The GFR600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

Clean, regulated air to the tool-changer and clamping circuits of a machining centre, with the 5 um element protecting directional valves from fine particulate and the check valve holding clamp pressure through supply dips.
Conditioning the air feeding conveyor stoppers and carton-closing cylinders on a packaging line, where the automatic drain copes with condensate at an unmanned drop point and the psi gauge lets line staff verify set pressure at a glance.
Filtered, regulated supply to gripper and palletising actuators in a robotic cell, with the 5 um grade suiting sensitive pilot valves and the round psi gauge giving a clear local readout during commissioning and maintenance.
Start with the port step: size 400 with a G1/2 port sits mid-range in the GFR line, so step up to size 600 or down to 300/200 if your piping or expected flow demands it - we will check the flow curve against your consumption on request. Choose the drain to match access: automatic (this unit) where the bowl is awkward to reach, manual where you want positive control, or the differential-pressure default. Pick 5 um (this unit) when downstream valves and instruments need finer air than the 40 um standard. Set the gauge to MPa, psi or bar; this unit ships with a round psi gauge. Thread is G here, with PT standard and NPT available as order options; a bracket can be added if this no-bracket version needs panel fixing. Flow is published as curves, not a single rating, so confirm sizing with us before ordering.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents — wipe it with a dry cloth. The reflux valve permits reverse flow through the unit. A filter regulator adds no oil to the line.
AirTAC publishes GFR flow as curves rather than a single rated figure, so we do not quote a l/min, m3/h or SCFM number. Send us your application's flow and pressure requirements and we will confirm sizing against the datasheet curve on request.
The A in the code selects the automatic drain, which expels collected condensate without operator attention - useful where bowls are mounted high or in infrequently visited plant rooms. Manual drain gives positive control, and the differential-pressure default is the standard choice; all three are available across the GFR range.
