It is crucial to distinguish the 5500 N static holding force from the 5497 N cylinder thrust; the clamp secures the static load, while thrust moves it. Furthermore, the variable air cushion at the stroke ends only decelerates the piston to prevent impact damage, whereas the actual load holding is exclusively managed by the clamp. Choose this BSAI100X300-S over a SAIL model when you need to arrest and hold a load mid-stroke, rather than solely at the end of travel. If no intermediate holding is required, a plain SAI cylinder suffices. Remember that the clamp locks only after the rod has completely stopped; it cannot brake a moving load. Additionally, unlocking requires balanced air pressure on both piston sides, or the rod may jump abruptly.

For a drop-in replacement, match the 100 mm bore, 300 mm stroke, PT port threads, and single-rod configuration.
