The AirTAC BSAI80X50 is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a built-in clamp-lock mechanism. Operating at 0.15-0.7 MPa, it generates 2513 N of thrust at 0.5 MPa. Remember that holding force and thrust are distinct: you must size the 3600 N clamp against your static load, not the cylinder's thrust.
The clamp is bidirectional and engages only after the rod has stopped, meaning it cannot brake a moving load. Unlocking requires balanced air pressure on both sides of the piston via the dedicated G1/8 enclasp port to prevent the rod from jumping abruptly. The variable air cushion at the stroke ends only decelerates the piston; the clamp itself is what holds the load. This extruded aluminum barrel design is dimensionally interchangeable with ISO 15552 mounting interfaces.

Choose this 80 mm bore when a load needs secure intermediate holding that a plain SAI cylinder or a SAIL stroke-end-only lock cannot provide. If your application requires less force, the 63 mm bore offers 1559 N thrust at 0.5 MPa and a 2200 N holding force. If you need higher clamping, the 100 mm bore provides 3927 N thrust and 5500 N holding force. The 25 mm rod and M20x1.5 thread provide excellent rigidity and side-load resistance.
For replacement, verify the 80 mm bore, 50 mm stroke, PT tapered port threads, and the 3/8 cylinder port. The single-rod BSAI accepts Basic, FA, FB, CA, CB, CR, LB, TC, TCM1, and TCM2 mounts. Because no magnet is specified, position sensing via CMSE reed or DMSE electronic switches is not available without modification. Always ensure the cylinder has stopped before engaging the clamp, and add an independent safety measure for human safety-critical applications.
