The AirTAC MTF series is a single-acting, spring-return mini cylinder built to JIS standards. It features a SUS304 stainless steel barrel and aluminum covers. Unlike a double-acting cylinder, air pressure retracts the rod (pull), and when air is released, an internal spring pushes the rod back out. This makes it a normally-extended cylinder, ideal for mechanisms that must default to the extended position safely.
The range spans four bores: 20, 25, 32, and 40 mm. Rod diameters scale from 8 mm on the 20 mm bore up to 16 mm on the 40 mm bore. Ports are 1/8 inch for the 20 and 25 mm bores, and 1/4 inch for the 32 and 40 mm bores, available in PT, G, or NPT threads. Strokes are limited to a short-stroke range due to the internal spring. The series is notably shorter than an ISO 6432 cylinder of the same bore.
Because it is single-acting, the usable pull output is the air force net of the return spring, so it is lower than the double-acting MF series for the same bore. The design uses a fixed TPU bumper for end-of-stroke deceleration only. Operating pressure proof is 1.5 MPa, with a temperature range of -20 to +70 C and 40 um air filtration. A magnet option (-S) is available for CMSG, DMSG, or EMSG sensors.

When choosing within the MTF series, select the bore based on the net retract force required for your load, remembering that the spring counteracts the air force. Match the port size (1/8 inch or 1/4 inch) and thread type (PT, G, NPT) to your existing fittings. Because strokes are limited by the spring return, verify the exact short-stroke requirement from the datasheet. Add the -S magnet option if position feedback is needed.
