AirTAC Pneumatics
The AirTAC SAUD series double-rod profile air cylinder delivers equal push and pull force across a 32-100 mm bore range, ideal for compact machines needing anti-rotation and dual-end tooling.
inventory_21300 models availableThe AirTAC SAUD series is a double-rod version of the SAU profile-type cylinder. A rod exits both ends, so push and pull force are equal in both directions. The compact extruded aluminum barrel is shorter than an ISO 15552 cylinder of the same bore. The double-rod design provides anti-rotation, and the back rod can carry a sensor cam or drive a second tool.
The series spans 6 bores: 32, 40, 50, 63, 80 and 100 mm. Rod diameter ranges from 12 mm on the 32 mm bore up to 25 mm on the 100 mm bore. Ports range from 1/8 inch to 1/2 inch with PT, G or NPT threads. Maximum standard stroke is 1000 mm for bore 32, 1200 mm for bores 40-50, and 1500 mm for bores 63-100.
Force output is symmetrical. At 0.5 MPa the force spans about 345 N on bore 32 to 3681 N on bore 100. At 0.7 MPa it spans 483 N to 5153 N. The shared design is double-acting with adjustable air cushions at both ends. The cushions decelerate the piston near stroke end but do not lock or hold position. The cylinder operates on 40 um filtered air, with a pressure range of 0.15-1.0 MPa and a proof pressure of 1.5 MPa. Operating temperature is -20 to +70 C, or up to 150 C with an option. Speed ranges from 30-800 mm/s. Seals are available in TPU, Viton H or NBR N. Add the -S magnet option for CMSG, DMSG or EMSG sensors. Mounting options are limited to Basic, FA and LB. This is a profile/compact body and is NOT an ISO 15552 cylinder.

Drives a transfer pusher on the front rod while the back rod operates a synchronized diverter. Equal push and pull force keeps cycle times balanced on packaging lines.
The double-rod design prevents rod rotation, making the SAUD series suited for precision gripper slides on CNC loading stations where angular play is unacceptable.
Fits into tight machine frames where an ISO 15552 cylinder is too long. The rear rod drives a secondary sensor cam or a small secondary tool without adding a second cylinder.
Choose the bore size based on your load and the equal bidirectional force required. For lighter loads, the 32 mm bore provides 345 N at 0.5 MPa, while the 100 mm bore provides 3681 N at the same pressure. Select the stroke length up to the series maximums. Confirm your port thread (PT, G or NPT) and your mounting style (Basic, FA or LB). Add the -S suffix if you need position sensing. Always confirm exact dimensions and weight from the datasheet.
If your application requires an ISO 15552 double-rod interface, step out of the SAUD series and use the AirTAC SAID series instead. For single-rod compact profile needs, use the AirTAC SAU series. The SAUD is the current-production replacement for the discontinued SUD series. If load holding is required when air pressure is lost, note that the air cushion is not a brake; you must add a mechanical lock, rod brake or pilot check valve.
Quick checklist
The SAUD series spans 6 bores from 32 to 100 mm. Force is equal in both directions due to the double rod. At 0.5 MPa, force ranges from about 345 N on the 32 mm bore to 3681 N on the 100 mm bore. At 0.7 MPa it spans 483 N to 5153 N. Maximum standard stroke is 1000 mm for bore 32, 1200 mm for bores 40-50, and 1500 mm for bores 63-100.
The SAUD is a double-rod profile cylinder, while the SAU is the single-rod version. The SAUD provides equal push and pull force, anti-rotation, and a rear rod for a sensor cam or second tool. It is a compact profile body and is NOT an ISO 15552 cylinder. If you need an ISO 15552 double-rod interface, use the AirTAC SAID series instead.
Yes. The SAUD is the current-production replacement for the discontinued SUD series. It shares the same compact profile design and double-rod functionality. Buyers searching for SUD cylinders should request the SAUD equivalent, but should confirm exact dimensions and mounting interfaces from the datasheet to ensure a proper fit.
No. The adjustable cushions at both ends only decelerate the piston near the end of the stroke. They do not lock, hold or brake the load. If load holding is required when air pressure is lost, you must use an external mechanical lock, rod brake or pilot check valve. The cylinder operates on double-acting air at 0.15-1.0 MPa.
