This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE100X10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE100X10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X10S

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X10S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø100mm bore and 10mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE100X10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X10S

Single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 25 mm rod and the spring retracts it, so the ASP100X10S runs on one air line and sits normally retracted at rest. This 100 mm bore unit delivers 3640.7 N of push at 0.5 MPa (5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into presses, clamping fixtures and gantry heads where a full-length cylinder simply will not fit.

This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the hard-anodized aluminium body for end-of-stroke signal. The fixed TPU bumper at both ends decelerates the rod, and the S45C hard-chrome rod threads M16x1.5 female at the tip. As a planning figure, treat roughly 0.6 of the rated push - about 2180 N, or roughly 186 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin - as the usable working load at 0.5 MPa. Note this ASP series is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE100X10, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE100X10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø100mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa5211.5 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X10S Is Used

compress

Pneumatic press stamping

A 10 mm short-strike head on an electronics assembly line uses the 3640.7 N push at 0.5 MPa to seat connectors and crimp terminals in one quick stroke at up to 500 mm/s.

build

Fixture clamping on CNC pallets

The spring-return action clamps a machined housing against a hard stop with about 2180 N of usable force, releasing automatically the moment air is dropped from the fixture.

sensors

Monitored ejection in packaging machinery

With the fitted -S magnet and a DMSE switch, the PLC confirms every 10 mm eject stroke of a carton pusher before the conveyor indexes the next blank.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X10S with the ASE100X10S

At 100 mm bore this is the top of the ASP force range: 3640.7 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your clamp needs less, the ASP63 gives 1420.5 N at the same pressure; there is no larger bore in the series. The 10 mm stroke suits short-throw clamping and ejection only - do not spec this family for long travel, and remember the spring returns the rod on air loss rather than holding a mid-stroke position. Air supply is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, port 1/4" PT. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis brackets bolt to the standard face, and the -S magnet on this model accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ASE100X10 as the current drop-in and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE100X10S
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X10S FAQ

Push is 3640.7 N at 0.5 MPa and 5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa to beat the spring; range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi). It is single acting: air extends the rod, the spring retracts it to the home position on air loss, and speed runs 50-500 mm/s. The fixed TPU bumpers decelerate the ends only - they never lock or hold a load.

No - the ASP series is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ASE100X10, which keeps the same 100 mm bore, 10 mm stroke and force class in a short ISO 21287 body with a matching mounting family (FA/FB flange, LB foot, CA/CB clevis). Because the ASP was built to a DIN-standard compact format, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. This model already includes the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches.
