This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE100X15B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE100X15B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15B

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø100mm bore and 15mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE100X15B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15B

Single acting push cylinder with spring return: compressed air extends the 25 mm rod and the internal spring pulls it back to the retracted home position, so only one air line is needed. This ASP100X15B gives 3640.7 N of push at 0.5 MPa (5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring, from a 100 mm bore with a 15 mm stroke. It is discontinued - the current-production replacement is the ASE100X15, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits deep clamping pockets and guarded stations a full-length body cannot reach. In practice, plan on about 2184 N (roughly 223 kg of push) of usable work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, and expect it to lift about 185 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries a 1/4" PT port, and the male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to standard knuckles.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE100X15B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø100mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa5211.5 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15B Is Used

compress

Press-fit bushing insertion

The 3640.7 N push at 0.5 MPa seats bronze bushings into small gearbox housings on a 15 mm working stroke, with the spring retract clearing the part for the next cycle.

factory

Bottle-capping head on a filling line

A food-grade capper uses the 100 mm bore to press caps home; on air loss the spring lifts the head clear so jammed bottles are not crushed.

settings

Fixture clamp on a CNC fixture plate

The short body tucks inside a milling fixture where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would be about twice as long, holding about 223 kg of usable clamping push at 0.5 MPa.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15B with the ASE100X15B

Size down if 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa from a 63 mm bore covers the load, or step to a double-acting ACE if you need powered retract and higher cycle rates. Remember the spring drives the rod home on air loss, so this unit will not hold a mid-stroke position. If you need position feedback, order the -S code to add the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches - without -S there is no magnet and no sensing. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings are available. Replace with ASE100X15 for new builds.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE100X15B
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15B FAQ

Push is 3640.7 N at 0.5 MPa and 5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, so at least 0.2 MPa is needed to overcome the spring. Speed is 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, fluid is air filtered to 40 um, and the air port is 1/4" PT. This model is discontinued; the ASE100X15 is the current drop-in.

A return spring retracts the rod whenever air is removed, so the cylinder is normally retracted at rest and cannot hold an arbitrary mid-stroke position. Sensing is possible only if you order the optional -S magnet code, which lets CMSE or DMSE switches clip onto the body; the standard ASP100X15B has no magnet. Mounting options include FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis, and the fixed TPU bumpers simply decelerate the rod at each end.
