The AirTAC Airtac ATE Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ATE80X15 is a genuine single acting, pull (spring return) ISO 21287 compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 15mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. Its short compact envelope saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
A single acting pull cylinder with spring return, the ATE80X15 uses its spring to hold the rod out and compressed air at 0.2 MPa or more to retract it. At 0.5 MPa the 80 mm bore delivers a net pull of 2159.1 N, rising to 3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa, both figures already reduced by the return spring. The 15 mm stroke suits short clamp-and-release moves where the rod must sit extended whenever air is lost.
The ISO 21287 compact body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into guarded assemblies and tight machine frames. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends absorb end-of-stroke shock. Plan on roughly 1295 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa - about 110 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin - rather than the full rating.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACE-series (ISO 21287) datasheet. Body: hard-anodized aluminium alloy; piston rod: S45C carbon steel with hard-chrome plating. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G. A built-in magnet is OPTIONAL — add the -S code to fit CMSE / DMSE position sensors.
| Pressure | Pull force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 2159.1 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 3101.6 N |
Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa. Single-acting strokes are short (Ø12 to 10 mm, Ø16-100 to 25 mm).
| ATE | ISO 21287 compact cylinder (single-acting pull, spring-return). |
|---|---|
| 80 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×15 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for CMSE / DMSE sensors (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
ACE-family variants: ACE (double acting), ASE / ATE (single acting push / pull), ACED (double rod), ACEJ (adjustable stroke), TACE / TACED (non-rotating twin-guide yoke). Mounting accessories: FA / FB flange, LB foot, CA / CB clevis, CR, SDB pivot, FTC; plus I and Y knuckles. Thread PT (blank) / G.
On a stamping line the spring-extended rod holds an ejector blade in the die area; 2159.1 N of pull at 0.5 MPa retracts it in 15 mm so the finished part can be blown clear, then the blade springs back out.
In a bottling plant the normally-extended rod keeps a guard-gate latch engaged; losing air fails safe to the latched position, and 0.5 MPa air pulls the 20 mm rod back to open the gate for changeover.
A case packer uses the spring force to press a hold-down pad onto cartons; a short 15 mm air pull lifts the pad only far enough for the pusher stroke, keeping the cycle fast at 50-500 mm/s.
At 2159.1 N pull at 0.5 MPa this 80 mm bore sits well above the 63 mm size (1320 N) and below the 100 mm size (3483.6 N); pick 63 mm if your load is under about 800 N of real work, or step to 100 mm for heavy clamping. Remember the spring returns the rod to its extended home position on air loss and will not hold a mid-stroke setting. Bolt on FA/FB flanges, LB feet, CA/CB clevis or SDB pivot brackets, and order the -S code if you need the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches - without -S no magnet is fitted.
Quick checklist
Net of the return spring, the 80 mm bore pulls 2159.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, air filtered to 40 um, speed 50-500 mm/s, and -20 to +70 C. The spring extends the rod and air retracts it, so on air loss the rod returns to its extended home position; it does not hold a mid-stroke position and the fixed TPU bumper never locks a load.
The ISO 21287 short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome 20 mm rod and a 1/4" PT port. Mounting brackets - FA/FB flange, LB foot, CA/CB clevis, CR, SDB pivot or FTC - bolt straight to the standard face. Position sensing needs the optional -S magnet code; only then can CMSE or DMSE switches be slid onto the body, and without -S there is no magnet fitted.
