An internal spring normally holds the rod extended, while supplying air to the 1/8" port retracts it. Is the Airtac MTF Mini Cylinder MTF20X20SCM the Right Cylinder?
Choose this 20 mm bore if your job requires a spring-open, air-close cycle with fail-safe extension. The quoted 146.1 N pull at 0.7 MPa is already net of the spring force, and you must supply at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring and retract the rod. If your mechanism needs less force, note there is no smaller MTF bore; if you need more pull, step up to the MTF25 which provides 153.6 N at 0.5 MPa.
Mounting options include LB foot, FA flange, SDB pivot and TC trunnion brackets to fit your frame. The -S suffix on this SKU means a piston magnet is present for position sensing; a standard SKU without the S cannot accept CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches.
