Airtac MTF Mini Cylinder MTF20X75SU

The AirTAC Airtac MTF Mini Cylinder MTF20X75SU is a genuine single acting, pull (spring return) JIS-standard round-body mini air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 75mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a SUS304 stainless-steel barrel for mildly corrosive environments. For the same bore and stroke it is shorter than an ISO 6432 cylinder, saving mounting space.

About the Airtac MTF Mini Cylinder MTF20X75SU

Generating 93.4 N of pull at 0.5 MPa, the AirTAC MTF20X75SU is a JIS-standard round-body mini cylinder built for single-acting tension tasks. An internal spring constantly pushes the 8 mm rod outward to an extended rest state, while supplying air to the 1/8" port retracts it. Because the spring actively holds the rod out, the cylinder fails safely to the extended position if air pressure drops, making it ideal for spring-open or air-close mechanisms.

The SUS304 stainless steel barrel and riveted aluminium covers provide excellent resistance to mild corrosion and washdown environments. For the same 20 mm bore and 75 mm stroke, this JIS body is noticeably shorter than an ISO 6432 cylinder, saving valuable mounting length. The U flat-end rear cover simplifies direct back mounting, while the included -S magnet enables position tracking with CMSG, DMSG, or EMSG switches. Based on the 0.5 MPa rating, you can expect a safe working load of about 56 N, or roughly 4.8 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 safety margin.

Where the Airtac MTF Mini Cylinder MTF20X75SU Is Used

swap_horiz

Tension Control

Pulls webbing or filaments with 93.4 N at 0.5 MPa, releasing tension instantly when air is removed and the spring extends.

valve

Fail-Safe Opening

Keeps a valve or gate open via spring force, using air to pull it closed only during active operation cycles.

vertical_align_bottom

Vertical Retract

Lifts or holds light loads up to 4.8 kg against gravity during actuation, relying on the spring to extend safely back out.

Is the Airtac MTF Mini Cylinder MTF20X75SU the Right Cylinder?

When sizing this 20 mm bore unit, compare its 93.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa against the next size up: the MTF25 delivers 153.6 N if your tensioning load requires more force. If the MTF20X75SU fits your load, ensure your air supply maintains at least the 0.2 MPa floor required to overcome the internal spring. This unit features a U flat-end back cover for direct mounting, but you can also utilize LB foot, FA flange, SDB pivot, or TC trunnion accessories. The -S magnet is present, meaning it is fully ready for CMSG, DMSG, or EMSG sensor integration.

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.2 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Do not dismantle the riveted front/back covers.
  • check Use correct back cover (CA/U/CM) & mount (LB/FA/SDB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac MTF Mini Cylinder MTF20X75SU FAQ

It provides a net pull force of 93.4 N at 0.5 MPa and 146.1 N at 0.7 MPa. The cylinder requires a minimum operating pressure of 0.2 MPa to overcome the return spring and retract the rod.

The internal spring constantly extends the rod, so if air pressure is lost, the cylinder fails safely to the fully extended position. It cannot hold a mid-stroke load, and the -S magnet allows CMSG or DMSG sensors to confirm this extended state.
