The MAC is AirTAC's standard round-body mini cylinder: double acting, with a variable air cushion at both ends, spanning bores from 16 mm up to 63 mm. Push force at 0.5 MPa runs from about 100 N on the 16 mm bore to about 1558 N on the 63 mm bore, so one series covers light pick-and-place work through to medium-duty clamping and pressing.
Every MAC shares the same construction: a high-precision stainless-steel barrel with aluminium-alloy covers and a stainless-steel block rolled onto it, forming a reliable sealed rolling-packed unit. The carbon-steel piston rod carries a 20 um hard-chrome plating, and the piston uses a two-way seal that also stores grease, so lubrication is not required. A magnet is built in as standard on every model, so CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches can be added for end-of-stroke feedback at any time.
Ports follow the bore: M5x0.8 at 16 mm, 1/8 inch at 20-40 mm and 1/4 inch at 50/63 mm. All models run on 0.15-1.0 MPa of filtered air, from -20 to +70 C, at 30-800 mm/s. The variable cushion is tuned with needle screws on site to soften end-of-stroke deceleration; it is not a brake, and the cylinder does not hold position on air loss. Typical Applications
Pick-and-place on small assembly cells
A 16-25 mm MAC with a CMSG sensor gives compact, cushioned strokes for grippers and part transfer heads, where a full-size cylinder will not fit in the frame.
Conveyor gating and product push-off
The 32-40 mm bores deliver about 402-628 N push at 0.5 MPa, enough to divert cartons or kick product off a line, with the variable cushion tuned to stop the gate softly at each end.
Packaging machine clamping and ejecting

How to Choose the Right Model
Start by sizing the bore to the force you need at your working pressure. The datasheet figures above are at 0.5 MPa; plan on roughly 60% of the rating as real work and keep a margin. Small loads (under about 100 N) sit at 16-20 mm, mid-range clamping around 25-40 mm (245-628 N push), and heavier jig or press duty at 50-63 mm (981-1558 N push). Then set the stroke and, since the magnet is standard, add a CMSG / DMSG / EMSG switch where you need position feedback.
Before ordering, confirm the 5-point match: bore, stroke, port and thread standard (PT, G or NPT blank on the code), mounting style, and the S magnet flag. Step within the family when the cushion is not wanted (MA, 16-40 mm bores only), when you need a double rod (MACD), an adjustable stroke (MACJ) or an integrated mount (MAR), or to MSA / MTA for single-acting push or pull. Drive the cylinder with an AirTAC 4V or 3V solenoid valve matched to the port size. For side loads or a profile / tie-rod body, move to a larger AirTAC cylinder family instead - the MAC is a round-body mini cylinder, not a tie-rod or extruded-profile design, and its weight and mounting dimensions should be confirmed from the datasheet for your model.

At the 1.0 MPa maximum the 63 mm bore reaches roughly 318 kgf. Always size on your actual working pressure and keep a margin.
MAC is the cushioned, double-acting standard. Choose MA for the same cylinder without cushioning (16-40 mm bores only), MACD when you need a rod on both sides, MACJ when the stroke must be adjustable, and MAR when you want the mount built into the cylinder. MSA and MTA are the single-acting push and pull versions for spring-return duty.
