AirTAC SCT Series Multi-Position Cylinders

The AirTAC SCT series is a tie-rod, double-acting tandem cylinder that places two piston sections on one rod line. By pressurizing section 1, section 2, or both, it achieves up to four controllable stop positions (0, stroke1, stroke2, and stroke1+stroke2). Equal strokes yield three distinct positions; unequal strokes yield four. This design eliminates the need for a second cylinder and external stops when 3-4 preset positions are required.

The series spans six bores from 32 to 100 mm, with rod diameters from 12 mm up to 25 mm. Ports range from PT1/8 to PT1/2 (G thread optional). Force output per actuated section matches the standard SC bore class: push force at 0.5 MPa spans about 402 N on the 32 mm bore up to 3927 N on the 100 mm bore. Theoretical maximum force at 1.0 MPa spans about 82 kgf to 801 kgf.

Shared design features include adjustable air cushions at both ends to decelerate the piston near stroke ends. Note that this cushion is not a lock; a pneumatic cylinder still drifts under load without live pressure, so a mechanical lock or pilot check valve is required for load holding. The standard operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (proof 1.5 MPa), temperature range is -20 to +70 C, and speed is 30-800 mm/s. Air must be filtered to 40 um. The -S magnet option supports reed or solid-state sensors. Mounting accessories include Basic, FA, FB, CA, CB, and LB (TC/TCM1 is not used). Construction is tie-rod, NOT ISO 15552.
