AirTAC Pneumatics
One entry point to every AirTAC linear guide: miniature stainless LRM rails, standard LSH recirculating-ball guides to 4000 mm, and high-rigidity LGC crossed-roller slides for short, precise travel.
inventory_22006 models availableAirTAC linear guides are passive rail-and-carriage sets that constrain and carry a load along a straight line. They are not pneumatic: there is no bore, stroke, port or air supply. Something else - a cylinder, a motor or a hand - supplies the force, and the guide keeps the motion straight and true.
The family covers 2001 published part numbers in three series. LRM is the miniature line: stainless rails in 12 mm and 15 mm widths, up to 995 mm long, with recirculating-ball carriages for light-duty precision positioning in tight spaces. LSH is the standard line: four-row recirculating-ball carriages in sizes 15 to 30 on rails from 70 to 4000 mm, listed as complete sets, carriage-only or rail-only - so a worn carriage can be replaced without buying a new rail. LGC is the crossed-roller line: five sizes, LGC1 to LGC6, with rollers from 1.5 to 6.0 mm. Because its rollers do not recirculate, travel is short by design, but rigidity and accuracy are the highest in the family - the choice for measuring, optical and X-ray equipment.
The key difference between the lines is how the rolling elements behave. In LRM and LSH the balls circulate through the carriage, so travel length is limited only by the rail. In LGC the rollers stay in place, trading stroke for maximum rigidity over a few millimetres.

LGC crossed-roller guides, sizes LGC1 to LGC6 with rollers from 1.5 to 6.0 mm, carry detector and source carriages over short, highly rigid travel where beam alignment cannot drift.
Metrology and optical benches use LGC slides for the highest rigidity and accuracy in the family over a few millimetres of adjustment, where a recirculating-ball guide would give up too much stiffness.
LRM miniature stainless rails, 12 mm and 15 mm wide and up to 995 mm long, fit precision positioning carriages into tight machine envelopes under light loads.
LSH four-row ball guides in sizes 15 to 30 carry sliders and gates along rails from 70 to 4000 mm, with carriage-only spares on hand so a worn carriage is replaced without scrapping the rail.
Start with travel length. If the carriage must run a normal or long distance, choose a recirculating-ball guide: LRM for miniature 12 mm or 15 mm rails up to 995 mm, LSH for sizes 15-30 with rails from 70 to 4000 mm. If travel is only a few millimetres and the application demands maximum rigidity and accuracy, choose the LGC crossed-roller guide in one of its five sizes LGC1 to LGC6. A crossed-roller guide cannot be substituted for a long stroke, and a ball guide will not match its rigidity over a few millimetres.
Within the ball lines, size and rail length are the second filter: only LSH reaches rails measured in metres. If you need a spare or a replacement carriage, note that LSH is the only series stocked as separate components - complete set, carriage only or rail only. Then confirm five points before ordering: travel length and rail length, series and size, set versus carriage-only or rail-only for LSH, the environment (LRM specifies a stainless rail; confirm materials for LSH and LGC from the datasheet), and what drives the load. If you want the guide and the actuator as one unit, step over to the AirTAC guided-cylinder family, where the cylinder supplies the force and the guide comes built in; guide frames and carriages also appear under cylinder accessories.
Quick checklist
Three series. LRM miniature guides use stainless rails in 12 mm and 15 mm widths with lengths up to 995 mm. LSH standard guides come in sizes 15 to 30 with rail lengths from 70 to 4000 mm - the only line that reaches rails measured in metres. LGC crossed-roller guides come in five sizes, LGC1 to LGC6, with rollers from 1.5 to 6.0 mm. Load ratings, accuracy grades and moment figures are confirmed per part number from the datasheet.
Decide by travel length first. A few millimetres of travel with maximum rigidity and accuracy calls for the LGC crossed-roller guide; its rollers do not recirculate, so stroke is short but stiffness is the highest in the family. For normal to long travel, choose a recirculating-ball guide: LRM for miniature 12 or 15 mm rails up to 995 mm, LSH for sizes 15-30 on rails up to 4000 mm. A crossed-roller guide cannot be substituted for a long stroke, and a ball guide will not match its rigidity.
Yes, for LSH. It is the only series in the family listed as separate components: complete set, carriage only, or rail only. That matters for spares strategy - a worn carriage is replaced while the rail stays in the machine. LRM and LGC are supplied as matched sets, so confirm the exact part number with us before ordering a single component.
No. A linear guide is a passive rail-and-carriage set: it constrains and carries the load but supplies no force. Pair it with a cylinder, a motor or a manual mechanism. If you want the guide and the actuator as one unit, see the AirTAC guided-cylinder family. All parts are genuine AirTAC, listed and orderable through AirtacDistr, with lead time confirmed on request.
