About the AirTAC 3V110-06 Solenoid Valve, 3V100 Series (3V11006NOE)
The 3V110-06NO is a three-port, two-position solenoid valve: one supply, one outlet, one exhaust, and only two possible states. Because this version is normally open, air flows from supply to outlet while the AC24V coil is de-energised; energising the coil closes the outlet path and vents downstream air to exhaust. That behaviour makes it the choice where air must still be present when control power is lost.

What a 3/2 Valve Does
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.

Normally open suits fail-extended duty: the outlet is fed whenever the coil is off. If your requirement is the opposite - air only when energised - order the NC version of this body instead. The 1/8in port is the small end of the family's range, below the 1/4in and 3/8in steps, so match it to a compact single-acting cylinder or jet rather than a large actuator. A 3/2 valve can never drive a double-acting cylinder - that needs both lines pressurised and vented in turn, which is the job of a 5-port AirTAC 4V valve.
The AC24V coil must be fed from a genuine 24V AC control circuit; coil voltage cannot be changed by rewiring, only by ordering the right suffix. This version terminates on a DIN plug; a flying-lead EI version exists if you prefer direct wiring.
