The AirTAC Airtac BSAID Clamp Cylinder BSAID125X150S is a genuine double-acting ISO 15552 cylinder with a Ø125mm bore, 150mm stroke and a spring-applied, air-released clamp-lock that holds the rod at ANY position along its travel — with a static holding force of 8600 N.
The AirTAC BSAID125X150-S is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a double-rod configuration and a spring-applied, air-released clamp-lock. It secures the load at any position along its 150 mm stroke, delivering a robust static holding force of 8600 N. Because it is a double-rod actuator, the thrust is equal in both directions, generating 5734 N of push and pull force at 0.5 MPa. Keep in mind that this 8600 N holding force is a distinct metric from the cylinder's thrust; you must size the clamp capacity against your static load, not the pneumatic pushing power.
The clamp operates via a dedicated G1/8 enclasp port, requiring 0.15-0.7 MPa to release the spring tension. Note that the variable air cushions at stroke ends only decelerate the piston; the mechanical clamp is what truly holds the load. The dual-rod design serves a specific purpose: it allows you to mount a workpiece on one end and a guide, counterweight, or position flag on the opposite end, providing dual-side guidance and anti-rotation. The 32 mm carbon steel rod and M27x2 thread provide exceptional side-load capacity, and the integrated -S magnet works seamlessly with AirTAC CMSE reed and DMSE electronic sensors.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC BSAI datasheet (ISO 15552). Operating pressure is 0.15–0.7 MPa (lower than a plain SAI). Port options: PT / G.
A spring-applied gripper clamps the rod and holds the load at any position in the stroke — not just at the stroke end (that is a SAIL) — and it is bidirectional: it holds whether the rod was extending or retracting.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 6136 N | 5734 N |
| 0.7 MPa (max) | 8590 N | — |
Equal force both directions (double rod). Rated to the 0.7 MPa operating maximum for this series. The clamp holding force (8600 N) is separate from cylinder thrust. Size with a margin.
Secures heavy workpieces at any point in the stroke for machining or inspection, using the dual rods to prevent rotation during the process.
Prevents heavy vertical loads from dropping when air pressure is lost, clamping the rod instantly once the piston stops moving.
Mounts a primary tool on one rod end and a secondary guide or counterweight on the opposite end for balanced, high-force assembly operations.
Choose this 125 mm bore when an application demands high equal force both ways alongside extreme holding security. If you do not require double-rod functionality, stepping down to the 100 mm bore reduces the holding force to 5500 N and the pull thrust to 3681 N at 0.5 MPa. This model excels over a SAIL cylinder because it locks anywhere in the travel, whereas SAIL only holds at stroke ends. A plain SAID is sufficient if you only need equal thrust without position holding.
For safe operation, understand that the clamp locks only after the rod has stopped; it cannot brake a moving actuator. Furthermore, it must be unlocked with balanced air pressures on both sides of the piston, or the rod may jump abruptly. Safety-critical loads require an additional independent safety measure. As a direct replacement, match the double-rod format, 125 mm bore, 150 mm stroke, PT port threads, and the -S magnet. The BSAID mounting set omits FB, CA, CB, and CR brackets, accepting only Basic, FA, LB, TC, TCM1, and TCM2 styles.
Quick checklist
The BSAID125X150-S provides a static holding force of 8600 N. The spring-applied, air-released clamp locks the rod at any position bidirectionally, but only after the cylinder has stopped moving; it is not a braking device for a moving rod.
The clamp is released via the G1/8 enclasp port, but only when air pressures on both sides of the piston are balanced to prevent the rod from jumping. The included -S magnet is compatible with AirTAC CMSE reed and DMSE electronic solid-state sensors.
