The AirTAC BSAID50X125-S is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a double-rod design and a built-in clamp-lock mechanism. A spring-applied, air-released gripper physically clamps the rod to hold the load securely at any position along its 125 mm stroke. Because it is a double-rod configuration, the thrust is identical in both directions at 825 N (0.5 MPa), and the second rod allows you to mount a workpiece on one end and a guide, counterweight, or position flag on the other for dual-side anti-rotation. The static holding force for this 50 mm bore is 1400 N.
Crucially, the 1400 N holding force is a distinct quantity from the 825 N thrust; you must size the clamp holding force against your static load, not the cylinder push force. The clamp operates via a dedicated G1/8 enclasp port, entirely separate from the 1/4 inch PT cylinder ports. Remember that the variable air cushion only decelerates the piston near stroke end, while the clamp is what actually holds the load. If you do not need the second rod or anti-rotation features, a single-rod BSAI50X125-S offers the same 1400 N holding capacity. Conversely, if you only need to hold the load at the stroke end rather than anywhere in transit, a plain SAIL cylinder suffices. If you need to step up, the 63 mm bore provides 1402 N pull thrust and a 2200 N holding force; stepping down to a 40 mm bore yields 528 N pull thrust and 900 N holding force.
For safe operation, note that the clamp cannot brake a moving rod and safety-critical loads require an additional independent measure. As a direct replacement, match the 50 mm bore, 125 mm stroke, PT port threads, and the double-rod configuration. The -S magnet works with AirTAC CMSE reed and DMSE electronic sensors. BSAID mounting uses Basic, FA, LB, TC, TCM1, and TCM2 (omitting FB, CA, CB, and CR).
